It seems like talk of the Hagen has almost completely dropped off in both the RT and diezel forum. Haven't even seen one for sale in the classifieds for a while now either.

Where's the Hagen guys at?

Lets get some Hagen conversation going! I'm very interested in trying one, after having a Herbert and VH4. I don't like that the switchable loop of the VH4 is the parallel loop, where Hagen and Herbert have switchable serial loops.

That Hagen and the Schmidt are the two Diezels I haven't tried but it seems to me the Hagen really shines for extended range and drop tuned guitars. It has a very quick attack and it is very articulate...almost to a fault if you aren't tuned down.

The Hagen guys are out playing theirs.

Hagen rips. I'm slowly starting to prefer it over the vh4. I will admit I wasn't sold on it at first, but man... 2 years in and I'm still in love. My vh4's are gathering dust. I should retube and crank them up again shortly. Maybe my opinion will change then.

I play Hagen in E standard all the time. It's not primarily a drop tune amp. Its a kick ass and take names amp no matter your tuning.

Hagen seems to get more air time than my Herbert.
But it's nice to have both. Channel 2,(which I think gets passed by because everyone wants the massive gain on channels 3&4) on the Hagen can do slight break up to down right mean.

More ''OOMFH" from the Herberts 180 watts though. Not a deal breaker by any means.

I've had my Hagen for a year now and am still very satisfied. I want to try it with EL34s though because the Hagen I tried had them and I think it sounded slightly better than the KT77 version.

Played a D-Moll, a VH4 and a Lil Fokker and none of them made me want to sell my Hagen. Nor did a Splawn Nitro. The only serious contender thus far was the Rhodes Colossus, what an awesome sound!

But back OT: since I bought the Hagen, i spend less time on forums and more time playing :D

Yes, the Hagen seems to be the forgotten amp. The VH4 and whatever is new (Dmoll, Fokker) get all the attention.

I've had mine since they first came out, and all 4 channels sound great. I like that it has a parallel and serial loop. It sounds great at low volumes, but turns into a beast when you crank it.

I tried to sell mine here and ebay with very little interest, other than a few trade offers. I recently got a Rhodes Orthos, so I did not want to have money tied up in both. I split my time between the two. Both are amazing tone machines.

Is it still for sale?

It's still in the classifieds, but I have not "bumped" it for a while. Maybe try again later. For now, I'll just play and enjoy it.

I still would like a Hagen, have tried every Diezel except the Schmidt. I miss the DMoll the most

Damn, just went back and searched, because I thought you had the one with the white headshell.

I like the Hagen with the white headshell, looks awesome.

Where does the Hagen fall as far as tightness, compared to the VH4 and Herbert?

I still have the white headshell for it.

I only had a VH4S briefly, but I ADORE my Herbert.

Herbert has been my number one for a few years now. Yet, just went to the Axe FX II for all duties. It is smaller, lighter, and can get great tones. No worries that Herbert or Hagen might get damaged. They stay home now.

But I digress, Hagen has a "looser" feel than Herbert. Also, the 4 channels of Hagen make it quite nice. Yet you have 4 channels on the VH4 too. It is nice to have the mid-cut that Herbert has, yet with 4 channels you have some flexibility as well. Hagen feels more open, maybe a bit less focused than a VH4 or Herbert.

Is there something specific your are looking to accomplish that Herbert and VH4 are nor providing?
Just curious...

The Hagen feels looser than Herbert? Hmm. Thats a big turn off, I like how tight the VH4 is, especially in stereo with Herbert.

I am not trying to really accomplish anything, just am wanting to try out all three of the "big boy" amps. I have no interest in dmoll/eins/schm and only mild interest in the fokker.

I do agree with Reza that the Hagnhas an absurd amount of gain on tap.
Maybe that simulates a looser feel.
When the gain is down it does tighten up, you're right on that Reza, thanks for the clarification.
