Curt, you happy? LOL! :D

I am! Now page 3 might not end up 27 feet long. I applaud your conformist behavior. Now let's talk about those mods inside your Super Lead.

Thank you! I love conforming. I fold like a house of cards in the face of peer pressure.. LOL! :D
By the way, what's the current record? 26 feet? LOL! :D

Well,
I wired it up like a 2203. With a 2.7k/.68uf on both sides of the 1st tube (stock it's on the one side and a 10k resistor on the other). I added a cap for a resonance boost and put a .68uf cap across the 3rd gain stage. That's a common thing seen on alot of stock Marshalls. Sometimes they put them in, sometimes they didn't. I like how it sounds. Adds more midrange growl. Then I put new filter caps on it. I lowered the preamp and pi caps values, also something that was done on older plexi's. I put those Sozo Royal 67s 100uf caps on the screens and grids, again those were common values on old Plexi's.

That's that. It fucking rocks... LOL! :D
shhhhhhh....now go to sleep <pulls up covers>

<rolls over and goes to sleep>

Hey, wake up! :D

This thread is OLD, but was researching Akira tone to see how others achieve it...and this thread showed up, so im throwing in my 2 cents worth.. Ive been playing 41 yrs, done album guest solo appearences, even did a label deal for my demo that appeared on an album featuring members of Motley Crue, Cinderella..

Having said all that..ive always had my own metal tone, but always loved Akiras tone(Thunder in the East). My gear is old but does the job... Marshall 100w 900 w 1960 cab, DSL 100 watt head w 1960 cab, boss gt6..

I finally NAILED his Thunder in the East tone w my old gear.. The secret, was adjusting the EQ and sub EQ on my GT6...i run straight out of GT6 into return jacks of both my heads, Akira tone ALL DAY. For distortion im using the boss fender twin clean preamp setting(boss gt6) w a Boss MetalZone(adjusted to mimic his tone), but the secret to my nailing it was tweaking the EQ and SUB EQ settings on GT6.. Note, while the GT6 has the metalzone patch, I'm using the Waza metalzone pedal(using external effects jack on GT6) as the pedal has more tweakable parameters than the metalzone distortion settings from GT6.
I may get flamed for having 'old outdated gear(from the comments here) but i like my sound and i did NAIL that Thunder in the East tone

Please tell me your first post was a necrobump about some deep rabbithole shit. That is fucking awesome.

God this thread was a blast from the past…zachman…Dan gower…lololol

page 1 & 2 for the win lol

Isn't he using a Friedman BE100 these days? I saw him play at the ESP booth at NAMM about eight yrs ago and that's what he was using. Still sounded killer, but you can't crank things up at NAMM.

Yea he even did a video at tone merchants with a BE100 haha. Apparently they all got drunk together and then Dave and whoever else was there just shouted song names for him to play the riffs. I remember Dave saying on tone talk he didn’t speak much English so I think all they could do was communicate in song titles lol. I might be misremembering somewhat but that was the gist of it haha

Found it:

OG names here! Fucking Vrad… it’s like an episode of “Where are they now?”

It’s so weird to think that all these personalities just disappeared. All those laughs and those arguments and whatnot. I genuinely hope they’re all doing well.

I admittedly don’t remember Vrad but zachman and his rack rig I will NEVER forget

Vrad was great. He was one of the big Splawn proponents at the time. Also one of the first guys making as selling Kemper profiles.

Remember DonBarzini?
