Hey All,

Just got my JTM45 Kit this saturday and have been working on it for about 2 hours here and there total. Still in the initial stages of the build but hope to pick it up during the week. "Trying" to substitute gear whoring in hopes of learning a thing or two so my amp flipping has calmed down a bit.. my 100w metro is still on the bench, going to do a couple of mods to that but I'm waiting on parts and a new drill to add a extra preamp tube to it. Well here are the pics, I'll update the thread as I progress through the build. Having fun putting this thing together so far, I hope my amp flipping doesn't turn into a massive amp building obsession

#1 Here's initial prep of putting the components on. Everything in this part is pretty straightforward. One thing to look out for are the grommets, there are two different sizes, one for the choke while the other are for the OT/PT. Make sure you get them in right before pull the PT/OT wires through or else they just pop off.

#2 Wiring the power transformers. Straightforward per instructions

#3 Completed wiring. Make sure to remember to put that extra red/orange wire that connects from the other end of the fuse holder to the ground.

#4 Tube socket heaters. If you follow the instructions it can come out pretty clean, Just make sure for each pin connection there is going to most likely have 2 wires soldered to the pin.

#5 Wired up the output transformer.

Wow......hats of to you sir. :salute:
I dont have the patience to work or build things.

Cant wait to hear the sound clips of that bad boy!!

That's awsome, your going to love the way it sounds when it's
done.I really dig my Metro,though I didn't build it.
Alot of people don't know about these amps and I'm
hoping they'll see your build and do the same.
Kudo's to you, wish I had the brass to build one myself.

I always have the up most respect for people who have the skills and patience to build an amp, hope it all goes well.

Thanks! I have a Metro 100w that someone else built, was going back and forth on finding another one built however I decided to just pull the trigger on a Kit of my own :) So far I'm glad I did, pretty cool learning experience building one from the ground up, it's much easier than I thought it would be, mainly because the Instructions included are pretty much idiot proof :D .

Also made a little more progress today, got the panels on and currently working on wiring the impedence switch, will probably stop here today.

Aren't they DVD instructions now?
I still wouldn't trust myself to do it.I shake to much.

Was the chassis pre-punched/drilled? I'm working on my AX84 build and drilling out the chassis was a bummer. Yours looks so clean...

Yeah its pre-punched/drilled, you don't have to do any additional drilling. If I had to do that it would probably look all messed up

They include a "DVD" but it's pretty much all the same material as found on his website. It just has all the PDF files on one disc. It's not that bad when you actually get into it, having a great soldering iron goes a long way

Very cool, I am gassing to do a build big time

Do it! I think after this build I might tackle one of the Ceriatone ODT HRM (dumble clone) builds

Little more progress. Added the front/back panels, wired the impedance switch and the speaker output jacks.

#6 Here is the impedance switch wired up. Remember to add the purple wire that attaches to the 16ohm tap.

#7 Speaker output jacks. Note that the instructions tell you to use the 18g buss wire, I made a mistake and used the thinner one, it's been corrected now to the correct one. (See below)

Looks great, can't wait to crank that sucker up

Oh yeah....make sure to add one of those death ray type gain switches on that bad boy :D

Next time you come up, I'm putting you to work

I'm thinking of a JTM 45 build myself. I did a 50 watt plexi metro last year and it is hands down one of my favorite amps. I recently put a Timmons BB in front of it and I havent plugged into anything since! Keep us posted, watching a build is always very cool, and hearing it is even cooler!
