What can't James Hetfield do?

I would agree with "alot of bands"

but "most every band" is just obfuscating how bad late period metallica is by saying "other bands fell off too"

That's like saying "Yeah I know OJ killed his wife, but I know LOTS of guys who have fights with their ex!"

I really don't think late period Metallica is that bad. It's not their prime obviously, but it's not late period Pearl Jam bad. There's levels to this stuff.

He can't play leads?

Seriously though, something I think about is that from my observation at least, in order for a band to get to be the biggest in their genere they have to be good - and have that special sauce - but they can't be too good. In other words, the more technical a player is the less mainstream appeal they'll have. Bands like Metallica, AC/DC, the Police, hell Taylor Swift etc. are in that sweet spot. bands like Dream Theater will never be any bigger because they're too technical for the average person. As for Megadeth my opinion is that while their extra technicality isn't helping them be bigger, there's something unattractive about the actual anger & resentment Dave holds in his heart that subconsciously turns people off. Regardless of the lyrical content I'm more interested in people that are fundamentally happy.

i'd say he can't play leads like mustaine but he does play em every now and then!

I think early period Pearl Jam is some of the worst music i've heard on this mortal coil, so I couldn't compare the two :dunno:
I was trying to figure out why young guys back then would say "but McCready is HENDRIXIAN" when I could just go listen to actual Hendrix. *shrugs

The Winchester in Cleveland, Ohio.
I just saw Lynch Mob is playing a shed near me in a small town called Jordan.
Never liked Dokken, but wouldnt mind seeing George once...
Guess its the last tour for Lynch Mob?

Also, looks like Metallica, Pantera and Suicidal are playing Syracuse April 19th, probably end up there.
Never got to see Pantera.

I was watching MTV music awards from, I think it was 1992...Pearl Jam performed and at the end of the song Eddie Vedder is mumbling and goes "EERUUHHHHHHH I DONT NEED LOVE, I DONT NO MOM AND DAD, ERRUHHHHHH!!" I hate the word cringe but that shit was just so bad.

I will be generous here :

mctallica should've called it a day 30 fuckin years ago.

Hard to explain the Hunger when you don't Feel it...

I am so stoked I found underground genres of music in the 90s, because otherwise I would think music just sucks dick as a whole

and would move to TTRPGs or magic the gathering or some nerd shit as a hobby instead

Everything about that era of popular american rock music just sucks so hard and so deliberately it's painful

If you're this much of an edgy hot-take potato now I can't imagine how insufferable you were in the '90s.

No argument here.
Id been fine if they called it quits at Justice.
Couple cool tunes on Garage Inc.

Pretty sure Dan mentioned that earlier in thread.

I hear ya. I am thankful that I had uncles that were into lesser known bands and underground stuff. Then again I somehow, got into fucking euro dance music on the radio and new jack swing r&b.

It's interesting how good those genres were at the same time popular rock was dying a death

Especially the production on that dance and R&B was lightyears ahead of its time

You liked ABC? BBD? The whole East Coast family?

I was busy playing little league baseball, going through puberty, and skateboarding

I guess that could be pretty insufferable if you don't like children
