    2203 Clone

https://www.tedweber.com/8cm100-c-kt/ They will do assembly if requested, for additional cost. I think mojotone will also do assembly, but theirs is a 2204. I went with a 2203 from Ceriatone, so I can't speak to either of the above, I just know them as two other options.

Dylana at 3rd Power Amps to build Satriani his next amp for the tour

It'll be interesting to hear how it sounds and what everyone thinks of it. I'll likely never play one. Kind of nice though to see another smaller builder getting some pub.

How to get Adam Jones (tool) guitar tone onMesa Rectifier?

Interesting that they're using toroidal transformers on many models, and I don't see chokes on any of them.

Found an old listing to my stolen ‘78 Les Paul Custom

For felony theft under $25K in Louisiana it looks like the statute of limitations is 4 years. In terms of the intermediaries, pawn shops can get into some shit for selling stolen goods. Private citizens though rarely get prosecuted for selling items they didn't know were stolen. And a company...

    Synergy Inbound!

This is what I have, and what I'd recommend...when you can find them. I've got EL34s in one side, and 6L6s in the other, and I can switch between them when I switch channels/modules. Sure, it's not gonna sound exactly like the power amp of the module's name sake, but the RT2/50 isn't a bland...

    Roland Orzabal…..

I saw them in Denver this past July, and they played a great show. I'd forgotten how many good tunes they have.

NAD Voodoo modded Marshall JVM 410H

I had a Voodoo modded JMP-1 preamp that I thought sounded great. It had already been modded before I bought it, so I don't know how it sounded before. It at least wasn't noisy like I'd heard the stock ones could be. I think MM makes great transformers, but I'm not sure I want one in the output...

Buyer wants a return and requesting full refund. Help!

This is what I do with any high-value items too. It's a trade-off. On the one hand, when I self-pack I think it has a better chance of surviving the trip, but it's harder to win a claim. UPS/FedEx might not pack it as well as I do, but at least I'm covered if it's damaged.

Buyer wants a return and requesting full refund. Help!

Nope. As the seller you're on the hook to ensure the item is received in the same condition in which you sold it. If you're offering shipping and you're self-packing, then you're also liable for how that's fulfilled. I wouldn't though lose hope in the carrier paying a damage claim. UPS paid up...

Buyer wants a return and requesting full refund. Help!

A big part of it is following THEIR packing guidelines. I think we've all received packages and have been astonished at what some people think passes for well-packed. We need to look at what well-packed means to the companies who actually know what they're putting our shipments through. For...

    I think I want a Synergy Rig

The Synergy stuff is what the MTS stuff should have been. MTS was good, but not quite there. The Randall RT2/50 was the star of the MTS line, and in my opinion, still the poweramp to have for the modular stuff. I still have a dual-channel M4 and RT2/50, and I'd have to be in pretty dire straits...

Buyer wants a return and requesting full refund. Help!

Sorry, OP. That sucks. I agree with the others though that it could very likely be damage in transit. V-style guitars are primarily what I play, and I won't buy ANY guitar online that doesn't ship in a hard case. I never ship without two rigid containers around a guitar, with at least one of...

KISS going to digital Avatars.. did we cover this?

Avatars, huh? Suddenly Ace and Peter seem like the more sensible ones, lol.

    Remembering First Amp & Guitar

In 1987 I bought a blueburst strat-style Cort Effector from Sears for my 18th birthday. The effects were mostly garbage, and there was no pickup selector, so both pups were always on. Paired it with a Peavey Backstage Plus and an Arion Metal Master pedal. That was pretty much my starter rig for...

Ceriatone Purchase questions USA vs Malaysia

When I bought directly from Ceriatone/Malaysia in 2020/2021, there was no sales tax or duties. I got a 2203 (including head shell, tubes, transformers, etc). $178 shipping direct to my house in the midwest. If you order directly from Nik, it should just be the item plus shipping. When I first...

Thinking about making a pretty major purchase...Les Paul / Guitar collector guys chime in....

I had a 1994 40th Anniversary American Strat that I bought new, and it was nearly all I played until I sold it 15 years ago. I eventually regretted that, by which point I'd long since lost track of who I'd sold it to. Right now there's an identical one for sale, excellent condition, case, case...

    Clean boost opinions

I like the Boss GE-7 for my "clean boost". I usually goose the mids a little, and bump up the output of course. It's not transparent, but I like the color it adds. There are a couple of components you can swap out to reduce noise without affecting the color too much.

    Mick Mars 2nd Single

Yeah, I liked this better than his first one. Mick rules. I can't help but feel like Motley lost a lot of the attitude that made them Motley Crue when Mick left. Mick's got the vibe in this tune.
