Yeah, the gate seems more like single-ended noise reduction than an actual gate. Turn it up and it takes out some of the hiss. Not terribly useful to me.
I also wish the JSX had MIDI, but that's a small gripe.
I love my JSX. I think it's better than the JVM410HJS I had. I wasn't looking for a Satch sound so much as a flavor of British tones with the option for a bit more gain and better tone shaping.
One caveat is the JSX bias test points. I wrestled with mine for days until I found out it was a...
Yep. In your shop policies, you can set terms for your returns, as well as restocking fees. Under the General Terms and Special Conditions, you can add whatever "fine print" you need to protect yourself. For example, I require any issues to be reported within 72 hours, and any damage in shipping...
Damn, that sucks. I ran into that too with a 4x12 I got from them. When I called them, the only option was to return it. They'd rather eat shipping both directions on a 4x12 than give a post-sale discount on the cab based on the actual condition. I get it though. If they did the latter, then...
I take pics and do a video playthrough right before I pack the item, plus while I'm packing it. Once it's in the buyer's hands, your position is only as strong as what you can prove. As a buyer, I've won not-as-described disputes because the best the seller could argue was their 6-month-old...
Those drums sound sequenced. I wonder how much of this is truly a band effort, versus primarily Axl trying to orchestrate everything? I'd love to see them do the straight-ahead rock thing that seemed to be their strength.
I used a Peavey Autograph II in my loop for years. EQing things AFTER your various gain/overdrive stages is an almost completely different set of tone shaping options versus what you do before your gain/overdrive stages. I love a lot of mids in my lead tone, and for the longest time I used a...
I lean towards Marshall-esque tones, so that's part of it. Plus obvious things like reliability. Beyond that:
I like a 3-way bright switch on every channel.
If it's a multi-channel amp, I'm looking at the tube layout and seeing how much of the topology is shared between channels.
I also like...

I haven't bought anything from them, but they're a fairly small operation and might be willing to CNC a body from a customer-provided blank.
I think they're really good quality and a decent value. Beyond that though, they aren't dead ringers for their Celestion counterparts, and like any other speaker, it really boils down to whether they sound good to you. I'm glad I tried them, but where I want a Celestion sound, I have Celestions.
I think I estimated that when I buy something used online from GC, there's about a 35% chance it's going back. Usually some significant difference in condition, maybe even DOA. It's a risk I factor in, but they make returns easy enough.
On the other hand, I've gotten some pretty incredible...
To me it's a bunch of pants-wetting over nothing. It's a change in their reporting threshold, not a change in our actual tax burden. We're on the hook for the same things regardless of the 1099, and none of that is even remotely new.
I tend to acquire more gear than I sell each year. Even when...
Sounds great. I've never had the CLR, but I got an EV PXM-12MP for my FM9 several months ago, and I'm amazed at what a difference the right speaker makes.
Another vote for Katana. I'm partial to the Artist MKII combo though. I like the placement of the controls, and it exposes a couple of controls that are only available through the editor on the non-Artist models. Plus it has MIDI. Most people probably don't care about that, but it lets me use my...
The Cooper Carter series is really good too. And similar to what others have said, I pick the amp and cab/IR that gets me close, before I start adding drive blocks or tweaking parameters. I get my amp, cab, and then drive blocks nailed down before I add anything else. I'm not dialling in my base...
NOS Ei in V1, otherwise Mullard long plate reissue.
Tung Sol in other positions, except for cathode follower, where I'll use a JJ.
Sovtek LPS for phase inverter.
