I played in an 80s cover band where we covered Head Over Heels and Everybody Wants to Rule the World. I don't think Roland played the second solo in EWTRTW. When I played that first solo from EWTRTW at a gig, you'd have thought I had busted out Eruption. I think it's still the biggest...
I did an OT and choke upgrade on a DSL100H and the stock OT felt like it was made of styrofoam. Could not believe how cheap it felt. But it sold on eBay for almost what I paid for the ClassicTone that replaced it.
I swear I've read on TGP about Thomann shipping to the US. Maybe they wouldn't ship Marshalls or maybe you have to find someone there who will hook you up, but I thought it had been done.
I think people have done it, but I never have. I've been to The Music Store in Cologne many times. That store totally rocks. I wanted a 2555x, but they don't come with a voltage selector switch and the PT doesn't have a 110v tap. So, in addition to shipping to the US and import duty, you'd...
How to ID that iron? Does it have Dagnall or Drake decals on it? The iron in my 1987x reissue has Drake decals on it. I think my '79 2203 just has the stamped digits on the bells.
I have a 100w 1969 clone, first one I ever built, with Merren iron. Every single time I take it to a gig, people, usually the sound guy, come up and say, "Man, what is in that thing?"
I so don't need it, but there is a 1997 1959 for sale locally in very clean shape. This thread might be the justification I need for buying it. Since I have so many Marshalls, Mrs. Lee doesn't notice when I bring a new one home.
Plenty of people have reported seeing an SLO or two in Ed's backstage rig on the FUCK tour, though the 5150s were prominently displayed on the stage. I was talking with one of Mike's guys at NAMM long ago who also told me that. So the SLO was in his live rig for some, if not all, of that tour.
IIRC, DD contained so many covers because they had to rush it to press. Dave and Al had this obsession with doing a video for Pretty Woman just to wave the flag while they took a year off. But it started becoming a hit on radio and WB told the band to shelve their vacation plans and get an...
My amp tech has bins and bins of NOS preamp tubes. When I want some, he just tells me to grab whatever I want, take them home and try them out, pay him for the ones I want to keep and bring back the rest. However, I kind of would like to get a very reliable and accurate tube tester. What...
I had this happen with a pistol barrel I shipped USPS Priority Mail. It went to one of those huge mailbox clusters in an HOA in FL. Their GPS said it was delivered and I'm sure it was, but to the wrong mailbox, which was probably no more than a few feet or even inches from the correct one, as...
Yeah, you gotta know what you're looking for and you really have to know more than the guy who put the listing up. But at least you have a very generous return period.
You have to use their ignorance and incompetence to your advantage. They regularly mis-label stuff on their used site. They list a head as a combo, an EBMM Axis as an EVH Wolf, etc. You can snag some killer deals that way and that's all they're good for. I saw them list a real EBMM EVH as an...
