Killer ....
Got some good stuff last night... What I believe to be good representation of the amp's tone and scope. Just chopping the clips down to sensible portions right now, and will post ASAP. I think between the X and the Hagen, I logged about 5 hours of recordings

Peace,
Mojo
I played a lot yesterday also .... recorded nothing.

Did you already record something? If yes, would love to hear it.

I'd love to hear it too. Yes, I managed to clock a mess of tracks a few weeks back from both the 20thA and the Hagen. It's all on my Macbook Pro - which is not my business notebook. I'm a bit of a loser for not getting the job done - I had some days open to get things editted and sorted out, but the following Monday I had a massive deal come down the pipe and I've been working on it since. So haven't had time to muck around with my tracks, and I apologize for this.

Suffice it to say, it's one of the best sounding amps in the world. I'm serious. I love my XTC, and I love my Hagen. Everyone's ears are different...but this is the masterpiece I've described before. Incredible.

I'm outta here on a 4 to 6 week surf trip in a couple hours... Will be back to play and post on the flipside.

Peace,
Mojo

No problem Mo. Take the time you need and first of all enjoy your surf trip you lucky bastard :D

I think that a lot of buyers go for the el34 becourse thats what they know and liked from Bogner Amps.
And I can understand that, its a lot of money and you dont want to take a risk.
But Iff Bogner is doing so many things wright, than they also had a very good reason to go for the 6l6 XTC and not for el34's.
Bogner claims that 85 % of sold xtc 20th are the 6l6 versions, but I if you read the forums it looks a bit like the other way round? Perhaps The el34 users are more "forum People"
I bought me a 'standard' 6l6 version and it really has that fat mid Rhoar that you would aspect from el34's.
I like it very much and it really has a better fatter more bottom punch tone than my Shiva el34 ( older 2007 version not 20th)
Is there anywhere on the internet a good comparisation between a 6l6 versus a el34 XTC ?
I would really like to hear the difference ( if there is a difference becourse its only the power amp tubes )
Rock on

I've talked to 3 people who've tried both versions and they ended up preferring 34's...I don't think the difference is huge and I'd say if you are happy with 6L6's, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Very few people into gear waste their time on music forums.

Does this account for the lack of KT77 clips? ;)

Almost 2 years and this amp is not going ANYWHERE out of my repertoire. I thought I'd ask a broadcast message out there to mark the occasion of sorts, have you had a 20thA and loved it and left it? Have you had a 20thA and continue to have it. Why did you let it go? Why do you still have it?

Peace,
Mo

If the price is real low ... or near the end of summer. Work is still slow, seasonal ~ I will be more interested.
But I have played on one & it is very cool.

I'm still very much in the honeymoon period with mine. Had it for a month and just cannot envisage a circumstance (other than a financial one, which I hope won't arise!) where I'd want to part with it. It is just perfect and a veritable fount of excellent, woody, organic tone.

I've heard some criticism that it's "too dark" - clearly people do not know how to use a presence or treble knob? Or, for that matter, the B1/B2 bright switch for the relevant channel?

Just one setting that's inspired me recently: Channel 3. Vintage mode. Gain at 1 o'clock. B1 setting. Full power. Boost. By far and away the best lead tone I have ever heard (even better than Ch. 3 VH4). Just phenomenal.

And yes, clearly it is ridiculous to suggest that one could sell this amp: even after 5 minutes on it I knew it was a keeper

I am likely going to be selling one of mine. I currently own 2, both EL34 versions. I've had my eye on the Goldfinger and because of a medical situation, money has been tight... so I'm considering selling one of my XTC's to fund it.

Yeah. I bought a second one (originally intended to be a backup for touring) that I've kept out in SoCal and brought the first one home with me to NJ. The one sitting out in LA is the one I'd be selling. I think that one has maybe 4-5 hours total usage on it. I picked it up in february 2011, started having health problems in the spring, spent the summer in the hospital. Wound up with joint damage thanks to a medication side effect, unfortunately affecting my hands and compromising my playing ability. Still trying to work my way back to recovery. Needless to say, touring plans are on hold. We're hopefully going to try to get back to work on our record soon, but I've just decided that rather than having 2 of the exact same amp, one of which sitting completely unused, I'd rather get some new colors to paint with.

Very recently bought half a business .... much more cash going out than coming in right now. Time just is not right for me. Pray your health problems get better.
