Hey Guys,

I have always heard the 3 Monkeys guys were cool and I like their style and their amps so much I will be carrying them in my new shop. When I was placing my intial order today I saw the Ze prototype High Gain Jose 100 Watt Amp they are doing. Would love to compare it to the Cameron Atomica and will when it comes out.

Check this thing out.

Looks like it could be cool, though I didn't think they would be into any amps like this judging by their other offerings. Would like to hear some clips or try it out though.

I know zero about 3 Monkeys. You're gonna have Cameron in the shop though, right?

Yep, it's a little different than our usual amps, but Oz and I both grew up playing in bands using high gain Marshalls. It's in our DNA...

PS Very excited to have our amps in Brad's new shop!!

Absolutely will have all things Cameron and Friedman in the shop. Some guys might be afraid to bring things in that compete with other things. Not me, I say get all the best stuff I can find that I believe in and put it all in one spot and let the players come in and play everything and make the call. Thats what I always wanted in a store and never found. When you leave my place you will have no doubt as too what you like.

Sounds like that amp will be more popular here rather than over at the coffee lounge...*cough, cough, TGP, cough*

Welcome to Rig-talk. Are you going to be able to make it to RedRider's ampfest? Can you bring one of these if you do?

Are you saying the DNA of the Monkeys evolved from its predecessors ? Thats dangerous talk around here :D

Ha, never thought about that. Oops.

@Greg - Looks like a nice setup on the control panel layout. With the inputs blended, does V2 mix clean volume in to the gain circuit or is it a different gain voicing under the master? And, is all the diode clipping on the pull master?

PCB's or handwired?

Oz designed the circuit so I'll ask him those questions. The photo is actually of the old input layout, we dropped one of the jacks and relabeled the gain/vol knobs. I'll have to look at the proto tomorrow (we just got it back in the shop from being loaned out) to remember what does what. I believe all the diodes are on the Master.

I built the cabinet and concentrated on getting all the roundovers just like an early 70's Marshall. I've noticed on most everyone else's cabs I've seen that the roundovers never come to a point like they did on those early 50 watters. Especially on the front below the controls. I had to build a jig to cut these correctly.

All our amps are handwired. We usually use what I call a 'hybrid' PCB design in our production amps, which is a machine made board with minimal traces and plated through holes for components. Kinda like an eyelet board. Makes wiring and repair as easy as an eyelet board while keeping the consistency of a machine made board. They are almost 1/8" thick.

The production Camerons would not have been possible without El Jefe's "push". So you actually have a dog in the race, so to speak. Nothing but RESPECT on your call to include all the top Jose amps at King Guitar.

Is the 3 Monkeys headbox a trapezoid shape, or is it just the picture layout?

Hey Greg!!!

Great to see you on here!! Wasn't this amp at Fatsound for a while???

For all you rig talkers, Greg and Ossie are 2 of the coolest guys I have met in the area!! They made it out to the BBQ last year and will hopefully make it this year, schedule permitting!!

At the southeast guitar and amp show they had their complete lineup there on display...with brad whiford there giving a quick demo!!! Bitching to say the least.

Good friend of mine has one of the Virgil amps...killer!! I will own either a Virgil or an orangutang one of these days....just HAVE TO!!

They are slightly trapezoid...and the 2 x 12 is a distinct shape all it's own also...

This looks like it might be comparable to a Chupacabra as well...

that's a cool attitude to take. hope you're shop really succeeds and that I find myself near by to spend an afternoon or three in there.

When I was at Tone Merchants the 3Monkeys were some of my favorite amps. Would love to hear this.

Love the 3 Monkeys look! They have something special happening. Good call on the addition. Your shop is sounding better by the day...pun only intended after reading.
