I used the .60mm Tortex for about 20 years & then 5 years ago i switched to the .73mm tortex. I wear them out pretty quickly but i buy them by the gross so i always have lots laying around.
Sorry for replying to an old post, but could you please recommend me a place to buy pics? Are prices any different where you get them?

I decided to suck it up, and just buy a ton of Tortex Jazz III's myself.

Like you said, they shred like they're made of paper, but to me, they're the best-feeling and, most importantly, the nicest-sounding.

All of the other Jazz III's sound so dull and thuddy by comparison, IMO.

I hate all of you. I bought threw packs of Dava picks while sitting at a brewery with my wife, lol.

I’m currently using 3 picks……Tortex Flow, EB blue nylons, and my favorite below

This has been my go to pick for years now. No matter what I try pick wise, I always go back to this one.

I still tend to grab the carbon fiber max-grip jazz3 most of the time, but I also really like the petrucci trinity pick. I can go between these two without really having to adjust.

I'm surprised more people haven't tried the trinity. It has the flow tip and three identical points. These literally last almost forever.

The cf max-grips do wear quicker than I'd like, but they are cheap. The tip just barely wears but it's enough for it to lose that rounded-tip tone and go to a more sharp tip tone, which I don't like as well. The difference is slight but I always notice by feel. When they are new they are the best IMO. Cheap though so who cares.

For my very rare clean strumming mood I go with standard size and tip dunlop tortex red .5mm.

Jazz III are too small for me. Do you use it for metal rhythm?
I do.. use it for metal rhythm and lead. Took a bit of get used to but works like a charm. Give it a shot for a bit of time and see how it goes for you.

Might try. Thanks. I mostly use standart Tortex.

I've been stuck on the Dunlop Flow .73s for a couple years now. I do wish they weren't dark blue though, impossible to find them little shits when you drop them.

I'll be honest, i can't decide on picks anymore and am going crazy. I have a weird pick angle so picks can wear and sound scratchy quick OR if too round and thick they go dull. I also can't hold on to them. Dunlop jazz feel too small or the regular picks too big. I like the cheapo .78 traynor yellow picks the best but they wear quick. I have also started scoring the back of picks, seems to help. Yet, i just keep dreaming of the day when i will finally find a pick and feel like it's the " one". So these threads always interest me. I've got diff picks just sitting on my amps and i keep cycling through them weekly.

Have you tried the max-grip surface?

They do it on many models now, and with many materials, so it's hard to not find something that agrees with you with the max-grip surface.

I was a bit similar in this way. Now I want you to pick your favorite pick no matter how hard it is to hold on to. @mhenson42 turned me onto gorilla snot. You will never lose a pick again. it is fucking awesome.
