I'm sorry that you feel someone should be defamed for no legitimate reason. He's made allegations of thievery and dishonesty concerning Mr. Blades... All I'm asking for him to prove these allegations. Is this not logical?

Mr. Blades, on his own accord, publicly admitted—no... boasted—that he acquired a number of amps from Cameron, Friedman, Jose, and a number of others and 100% copied them. Then turned around and started selling them as his own designs. I don't know if there's a legal issue with that (probably not). But it is a form of thievery. Or at least internet lawyers such as yourself could argue that way.

If it's not thievery, it's at least partially dishonest, considering Billy was adamant that those designs he "stole" should be available to the public. Then he turned around and started selling them. That's called hypocrisy. I guess what he meant by "available to the public" he really meant, "if they pay me for it."

The RCA/Western Electric amplifier circuit has long been deemed public domain. The only patented tube amplifier circuit that I am privy to, is held by Guy Hedrick and Graydon Stucky. If Billy Blades is in-fact a thief as you say, than Marshall, Fender, and Boogie are equally guilty. Your argument is purely philosophical... It is not based on fact. As far as modifications are concerned, they are not patentable; unless applied for and approved by the US Patent office. Hence, they are public property. If you really feel that strongly, you should sell all of your master volume equipped amplifiers, and apologize to Randall Smith.

That's quite a leap of logic there. You have no idea what I "feel," whatever that actually means.

1. It's quite simple... The member accused Mr. Blades of thievery, yet supplied no information to support his accusation. I merely requested proof, which I have not as yet received.

There's a big difference in building a clone for personal use than building one to sell for commercial profit with your own company name on it .
If you want to mud sling then you should call out C3 amps because that's exactly what they did .

If this were true, then buying something on the used market would also be wrong. As that takes potential money away from the manufacturer. When you buy a used amp from the classifieds, the original builder sees zero dollars of that sale. So why don't you go buy a new one so the manufacturer can profit? Your argument is a classic business dilemma. But there are some holes in it.

No money has been taken away from Soldano. I have never purchased anything from Soldano. And I never planned too. If I hadn't built a clone of the SLO, I still would never have purchased the real thing. If I turn around and start selling SLO Clones to other people who might have purchased the real thing... then yes, then I would be taking sales away from Soldano. But building a clone for myself: nope.

In fact, that scenario actually happened. A forum member (might have been another forum) started selling SLO Clones under his own brand name. He's not around anymore because there was a big shit-storm about it.

You do have a point there. Absolutely.

But let me be clear: I'm not criticizing the fact that Blades amps are amalgamated copies of other amps. I'm 100% fine with that. It's that what he's doing... and what he said he would do... are two different things. Do you not remember what Billy Blades said when he first came on these, and other, forums? Really? Your memory is that short?

Let's say i went out and reverse engineered the Coca-Cola recipe. And I announced to the world that I was going to share it with everyone. For free. And I make grandiose claims that Coke is evil. And their recipe shouldn't be a secret. Because I hate Coke or some other inconsequential reason. Then a month later, after bragging about my awesome Coke-making abilities, I turn around and start selling and hocking "Moke." That's what's happening here.

Billy saw dollar signs. And that's fine. I'm totally fine with that. But don't pretend that's not what happened. Seems like people want to forget about that and gloss over it. And when someone points it out, suddenly the world is ending.
