You're not in the minority IMO, I like mine with V30s too. I'm generally not a huge v30 fan, but in the bog cab and w/ the xtc I think its a good match. The amp was voiced for V30s afaik, and they mic up well and cut nicely. I will say that running my brother's marshall HW cab w/h30s as well as my bog cab was just about perfect though, complimented each other very nicely. Made me think about swapping a couple with him, but never got around to it. Didn't like his cab as much on its own, and find h30s usually have a treble spike when recording that takes some tweaking to work around moreso than the V30s, IMO.

Where are you guys keeping your Pre-EQ on the Red channel? I've noticed that with the gain under 11:00, B2 is just too bright...N and B1 seem much better, and B1 also adds more gain. (From what I can tell)

I agree. I keep both of mine in b1, and swith back and forth between tight and medium.

I tend to keep my Red in B1 and Blue in B2. I dunno, the bright switches definitely seem to add saturation to my ears. Either that or the increased highs make me perceive it that way.

Is it just me too, or does "T" sound a little more saturated than "M" or "L"? Again, it might just be the decreased lows/increased highs, but there's something in it. I usually keep my Excursion on "M" or "T". I haven't really decided which I prefer yet.

I had one years ago but I'm pretty sure it was built well before they were making the high gain mod for them. This newer version has me thinking bad thoughs.

I feel the same way, so you're definately not in the minority. But, a guy has to wonder .... I thought my V30 slant was perfect with my old 101b, but this one does have more of an edge to it, tighter, etc, etc. I only played it through my GB cab for a short time and prefered the V30's, but havn't spent a lot of time through the GB's. I LOVED the GB cab with my Jose though... It's new Jose day tomorrow. Oh, and I just got the word that I have off of work...oh, doesn't that suck!?!?!

I thought my V30 slant was perfect with my old 101b, but this one does have more of an edge to it, tighter, etc, etc. I only played it through my GB cab for a short time and prefered the V30's, but havn't spent a lot of time through the GB's. I LOVED the GB cab with my Jose though... It's new Jose day tomorrow. Oh, and I just got the word that I have off of work...oh, doesn't that suck!?!?!

You find it almost, sharper, clearer and a little more "aggressive" than your old one? Aswell as tighter, more gain etc.

Mine has a Cameron mod, slightly different values from the Bogner mod (I believe it affects more the hi mids region rather than the high highs found in the "high gain mod") but very similar in practice. More gain, tighter than I'd heard Bogner's were but very fat sounding too.

You just need to tell her that there comes a point in a man's life, that he has to do certain things that a women just won't understand. She needs to just trust that you're doing the right thing for everybody, no matter how it looks at the time. It will all make sence in the long run. Yeah, Mark told me about a week an a half ago when I told him i was getting an XTC that he could walk me through a mod to change the mids if I wanted to. To be honest though, I'm not sure if I would want to change anything about this amp. Shocking, I know..

The blue channel on my last one seamed really shrill and didn't have any balls to it. Not enough gain either. This one has a perfect amount of gain for the 80's type rythm stuff and has a lot more body to it.
