Bogner XTC owner past and present....Please chime in

Just various things I've read about the mod. Mine has a Cameron mod, slightly different values from the Bogner mod (I believe it affects more the hi mids region rather than the high highs found in the "high gain mod") but very similar in practice. More gain, tighter than I'd heard Bogner's were but very fat sounding too.

Out of interest, what didn't you like about the Blue before that you do now?

Yeah, Mark told me about a week an a half ago when I told him i was getting an XTC that he could walk me through a mod to change the mids if I wanted to. To be honest though, I'm not sure if I would want to change anything about this amp. Shocking, I know..

The blue channel on my last one seamed really shrill and didn't have any balls to it. Not enough gain either. This one has a perfect amount of gain for the 80's type rythm stuff and has a lot more body to it.

Not much really. Just that it was real easy to do. Well, it would have to be for me to do it.

I'll find out more eventually. I don't want to bother him with all the crap that's going on right now with the production amps and all. I would think Brent would know some of this stuff too though.

Oh, and I found that plugging into the low input seamed to make it sound more like the older version. It's a very usable input. Not one of those where you plug into the low input and it's just unusable. It seams to just shave a little off if you know what I mean.

Interesting, I'll have to try that tomorrow. How are you running the switches on the back? Old/New, Half/Full etc. Also, are you running the master volume at 100% and using the channel masters?

I'm in the minority in that I like the 101B with the Bogner slant 4x12 w/ V30's...never felt the need to dick with it at all

I feel the same way, so you're definately not in the minority. But, a guy has to wonder .... I thought my V30 slant was perfect with my old 101b, but this one does have more of an edge to it, tighter, etc, etc. I only played it through my GB cab for a short time and prefered the V30's, but havn't spent a lot of time through the GB's. I LOVED the GB cab with my Jose though... It's new Jose day tomorrow. Oh, and I just got the word that I have off of work...oh, doesn't that suck!?!?!

Maybe it just seems like it. For some reason its like the V30's are whiping boy of speakers of late...almost like its cool to hate em or sumptin like dat

Congrats J.B. on the new amp. My 101B is the first one I've ever seen or heard. Until about 4 months ago there was no dealer in my part of Canada for a few years so it was near impossible to check out unless I took a long trip. I think I bought their first 101b actually.

My settings are actually close to your old settings on the "Hunter" clip you did on the blue and red channels a while ago. Yeah... I actually wrote them down way back; that's how impressed I was with them. Having never seen one and hearing B1, old, structure....I thought "I'd better write this down"

I am still blown away with this amp. I was the biggest Soldano fanboy (best amp I've ever played is still this SLO with all the mods that was just way too pricey for me-don't need the mods for me at all; had it for almost a month though ) My Bogner is an '07 and chewy, fat, full...really having a great time with it. They had a matching slant cab with it and it sounded great but I'm pretty much a GB guy.

Anyway, I've got a Bogner 4X12 with 2 Alnico Golds and 2 Avatar Hellatone 60s in an x pattern. I'm really dig'n the tone and feel.

Make sure you have a big assed soldering iron. Bogner uses wires about the size of your pinky!! I had to go buy a 100 watt soldering iron just to get them loose with I took my V30's out and put GB's in.

I had always used V30's with my XTC's over the years until this last one which I used with greenbacks. I tend to prefer greenbacks over V30's, at least with Marshall, Camerons, SLO, Komet, Bruno Wizard etc. It has beena while since i used V30's and have not had a chance to a/b them with the XTC for a long time so I guess my opinion is kinda worhless. Congrats on you new found love and with your speaker choice. keep in touch..
