This is one I want to try.

The JP wah sounds great right out of the box for higain leads. I also have the golden 50th anniv crybaby wah which is cool but I prefer the JP even with the stock settings. I am quite picky for the looks also so I bought two GCB-80 volume pedals and modded one of them to work as an expression pedal by removing the stock PCB and soldered in a new 10k pot and a stereo plug. Looks cool when all 3 have the same form factor. 😀

Dunlap MC-404 CAE wa any one familiar with this one ?
I believe it is more vintage voice.

I use a chrome 535q modded by dunlop for auto shutoff, the cantrell wah is my 2nd favorite. I had the hammett and hated it, also owned the lynch and tremonti wahs but they didnt do much for me. I had the regular crybaby but didnt like it, i had a dimebag wah and loved it, and i liked my zakk wah.

Best I've used was the Petrucci, (if my brother will ever give it back!).. Honorary mention goes to the Zakk Wylde wah - it's pretty killer as well, but the Petrucci is my best...

I love my Cantrell…just wish it was true bypass

just checked out your Youtube, left a comment and subscribed to ya! I'm surprised how great the Fractal wah is! I'm sure you can customize its frequencies, inductors and everything in that thing. I actually just started a YouTube channel, and kicked it off with my modified 95Q wah pedal. Throw me a like and comment if you dig it!?

Thanks Dude.. that 95Q in your video sounds real good modded.

Yeah the FX8 Wah has multiple WAH choices to pick from as well as a wide variety of settings to adjust. Honestly, makes it a bit hard to setup a good WAH sound right away, took me a while to get a real good sound, but once you have it, you set it and leave it.

I had my pedal maker friend gut a broken 95Q wah and convert it to an expression pedal for me.

Cheers

Currently my only real wah a Rocktron Utopia Wah. The sweep is big. I put some rubber pads to limit the heal down range. I don't use it much because I have 3 different Digitech pedals with wahs.

I've had various Crybabys. The 9v 535q or DB01 were both great.

Dunlop John Petrucci wah; it is the DCR2SR rack wah in pedal format with the adjustments under the bottom cover. I play 80s style of rock/shred stuff mostly.
I had no idea it had adjustments under the cover! I'll have to check this out. 🤟 🤟

I greatly appreciate the feedback on the modded 95Q! We'll keep in touch!

Does the utopia wah have a potentiometer inside it? You might be able to adjust the pot and roll some of that darkness out. That would totally solve the darkness at the heel problem.

Mine is the 18 volt also.
I had the Dime wa about 15 years ago. That one was also excellent.

This is one I want to try.
Don't ever let that 18v 535q go! haha! I've done side by side comparisons between that one and the 9v which includes the newer smd parts...man night and day difference. The 18v kicks ass! I think that is the best production wah pedal made to date by Dunlop.

When did Dunlop mod your 535q for the auto return? I tried contacting them a few years back and they told me they didn’t do this. If you have any interest, check out my YouTube page in this thread. I did some considerable mods to the 95q wah. I added in the bass cap rotary switch that’s found on the 535q and replaced the sweep caps with the ones that are in many of the signature wahs. I think you’ll dig it! 🤟🤟

I’m a sucker for things being uniform too. That was a great idea for transitioning those gcb-80s into expression pedals! Helluva lot more durable to boot! 🤘🤘

I haven’t played that one but it’s one of Dunlops best selling wahs. I’ve seen that wah on many pro boards. Designed by Bob Bradshaw. It has a dual inductor circuit and quite a few extra bells and whistles. The red fasal covers all the modern high gain tones, whereas the yellow fasal gives you the more vintage classic rock & bluesy wah tones.

I cant remember the exact year but it was around 2012.

No, the wah is in the center, to the left is the EHX volume pedal, to the right is the EHX expression pedal. This design isn't for everyone, but it works for me. These days I just leave them on the floor and plug them into whatever gear I'm using.

The whole pedal moves, so there are no moving mechanical parts; some complain about the pedals sliding if the floor is slippery the pedals may slide across the floor, but I haven't had that issue - they make trays to hold them in place and you can velcro the trays to your board. That's another thing, since the whole pedal moves, you can't attach them to your board; I use a thick block of foam to hold them in place in the case, which I just had to sacrifice to use as padding shipping some gear I sold.

Cheers!
Wow, I just watched a vid last night by that Chappers guy where he callied that wah the worst pedal of all time
