Looks like I am getting a Dunlap MC-404 CAE wa on Saturday.
Look forward to the report….but don’t forget you need to finish up on the Louisiana Purchase first!Looks like I am getting a Dunlap MC-404 CAE wa on Saturday.
Can you highlight these 2 components in this photo ?You would think that Dunlop would put a switch inside these wahs where you can bypass the buffer, to make it true bypass!
If you can find an old 80s Dunlop GBC-95 for cheap, replace the sweep cap with a 0.12, up the vocal resistor to .68k, add in a red fasal. You now have a Cantrell wah without the buffer.
I am deciding on the Orange OR50 or Fryette Deliverance 120 first. Obviously going to have the 535q hooked up for direct A/B. Expect graphs and pie charts and peace pipes and maybe a rain dance. It's rain season here again in Seattle.Look forward to the report….but don’t forget you need to finish up on the Louisiana Purchase first!
Nice! I can't imagine anyone hating that CAE wah. In fact, on Sweetwater it has a 4.8/5 star average with 50+ reviews which I feel like is an indicator. Let us know what you think!Looks like I am getting a Dunlap MC-404 CAE wa on Saturday.
Will do! Been unfortunately super busy, but hope to open it up and give it a whirl after I get through my next gig and recording. Indeed I appreciate their dedication to no SMD and you can even pay extra I noticed to get it point to point if you want. I'm afraid I suck with hands on stuff, but now I'm curious if it has a red fasel. I agree that red fasel is where it's at for hard rock and metal It does seem to have a rotary sweep/Q dial so hopefully that will help dial things in for high gain. It's crazy how versatile the Dime wah is indeed! The CAE MC404 is sweet- love dual inductor design! Hmm now I'm thinking...what if we take the Dimebag wah's sweep cap rotary dial, and install it into the CAE? mwwhahha!!
The Jam Wahcko wah gets a lot of praise! It's a damn good one for sure. They make some real quality pedals. No SMD parts. Not sure how that wah will sound with lots of gain and I'm unsure what kind of inductor they use in that pedal but, if you're handy with a soldering iron, pop in a red fasal inductor (it's just two pins) That might give that wah a little more attitude when it comes to high gain rock stuff!!
I tried for years steering away from the red fasal, but for rock and metal wahs...nothing compares lol
Let me know how that Jam wah works out for you! I'm intrigued.
Correct. 68k.You could also go all the way up to 100k. It'll make it have more quack to it, but I think the 68k would make you very happy! I'm not too familiar with that inductor (me-6) but it may be decent? You can swap it with a red Fasal, but before you go down that road, just try modding the vocal resistor and the sweep cap it may work out perfect for you. One last thing, if you feel like the wah needs more treble at the toe position after the mod, just loosen up the tensioner, pull the gear back(the little stick with the teeth on it), and roll the pot forward about 2 teeth. Then re-secure the tensioner. Hope it works out for you! Let us know! Can you highlight these 2 components in this photo ?
edit: Ok, figured it out. I think you mean "change the stock 33kΩ voicing resistor to 68kΩ" ? Not 0.68kΩ This will change the "Q" value.
Yeah, I swapped out the stock inductor for that Mammoth Electronics ME-6 (570mH) and it made the Wah sound better.I'm not too familiar with that inductor (me-6) but it may be decent?
Thanks for checking out the video! If you ever grab a 95Q or a 535Q those mods can be applied to both pedals.Nice! I can't imagine anyone hating that CAE wah. In fact, on Sweetwater it has a 4.8/5 star average with 50+ reviews which I feel like is an indicator. Let us know what you think!

Also, I checked out your video. Nice wah tones!
Yes! It’s the first pedal that inspired the 535Q This wah pedal had the 6 way rotary sweep cap selector on the side, along with the boost on the underside of the pedal. After this there are 3 other revisions of the 535Q as follows:Anyone familiar with the BB 535 ???
Forgot about this one. The Teese Wheels Of Fire wah. This and the Area 51 were the best I ever owned.
vox italian thomas organ was the best one i owned until i gave it to marc ford. he borrowed it when his teese was cutting out during sound check, and really seemed to enjoy it!
the odd thing is i saw mike landau with robben ford and his teese did the same thing at this gig.
and my teese picture wah did the same thing too.
bad run of switches?
Why does Kirk use so much wah?
"The wah enables me to mirror the inner voice in my head and in my heart," he recently told Guitar World

I can only imagine how a conversation between Kirk and Santana would go. They both have entered a level of guitar spiritual discipline that is beyond comical.Such a passionate response. Much deeper than what I would say for sure.
