GIT is right around the corner from the big Scientology church on Hollywood Blvd. When I was going there I had to walk past there everyday, always guys out there on the sidewalk trying to get people to come in and take a free "IQ" test....

They call it a stress test now, and I gotta walk by the bastards too

Art Bell had a Science Fiction scholar (is there such a thing?) on his show, and they were discussing L.Ron Hubbard and how the whole Dianetics/Scientology got started, apparently it was originally a bet between Hubbard and another S.F. writer (dont remember his name). But the gist of it was that Hubbard bet the guy he could invent a religion, based purely on science fiction ideas, and could make it flourish and make TONS of money.

I dont get it, most of these people are SUPPOSED to be intelligent,

Xenu FTW!!!!!

Depends on how you define intelligence man....

You kind of described every religion out there.....only difference being the new tax free corperation on the block

I don't believe every religion is all about money. I mean, the little baptist church out in the middle of nowhere isn't exactly rolling in dough. I believe most of them are struggling to make ends meet, aren't they?

Yeah, "every" was probably not the best word

I do know the small baptist church one town over from me, the minister rolls fat in an Escalade though

I've also read that they have the evil alien leader for the bad guys, who is named Xenu, trapped in an eternal cage on the top of some secret mountain in the US. Part of reaching the highest ranks is visiting this site and seeing Xenu for yourself. Although, I heard that it was a smoked filled room with noises and other fake stuff to trick your mind into thinking you saw Xenu. Something like that anyway.

So he's trapped at the Krank Amps Factory ?

Actually-if memory serves-the thing on Hollywood was some kinda store front test center thing...the actual Church is a few blocks away.

I think that's right actually. There are a bunch of scientology owned buildings around hollywood that seem to do very little... definitely not hurting for cash, lol.

Depends on the wealth of the members. With Scientology you have to pay to hear the message. With Christianity, the message is delivered for free. If you then become a member you are encouraged to Tithe, which means put 10% of your income toward the Church. This money is supposed to go mainly to those people who need it and to keep the Church up. If too much is going to the Minister, than something is wrong.

As a Christian, it sure makes me ill to see some of the horrible things that have been done over the years in God's name :gethim:

But it does not negate the fact that the majorities of reliions are based on folklore...
Alien nonsense with Scientologist's is really no more in the "far out" department then guys believing in a spiritual leader that was given instructions by a lizard, or folks believing that they exist because some supreme being fashioned their ancestors out of mud and their spouse out of a rib...

As for the money aspect...you then can go back to when Luther hammered his take on the wall. Sure was a good money making scheme that the catholic church had going then. Whenever there is a group of people looking for faith there is another group figuring a way of profiting. IMO of course.

I took the stress test thing right at that center in Hollywood in the 80s. After I took it, they asked me to leave... immediately...
