I took the stress test thing right at that center in Hollywood in the 80s. After I took it, they asked me to leave... immediately...

Don't stress out about it!

I agree the ideas of this religion are kinda out there - but it's amazing the number of successful musicians and actors that are members.

It's not so much their beliefs that bug me, hell all religions look weird to people on the outside, doesnt matter what you believe.

My problem is all the documented cases of their "tactics" of depriving people of medications, sleep deprivation, not letting people see their families, locking people away in "solitary confinement", harassment, etc.....

For those reasons, they should be HEAVILY investigated, and any other religion/cult/business/whatever with the same agenda.

Corrected.

Bhuddism is not so bad.

If there is a concept of a god that humans invented, then I find it ridiculous. I don't say any religion is bad, I just think imaginary superheros are ridiculous.

Scientology is some crazy ass shit

I can understand people believing in the more traditional religions because they are so ingrained and were well established long before advanced science and technology.

But it baffles me that people latch onto to these mythos that were conceived half a century ago.

btw, this post not intended to offend any religious people in any way. Just want to clarify that so that no one jumps all over my shit

What's the difference? A made up story created now or a couple thousand years ago is still a made up story. Water into wine or Xenu... hmmmm... which to choose.... I think I'm gonna go with reality for $200 Alex...

if you read nothing else, read this:

http://www.xenu.net/archive/OTIII-schol ... -essay.txt

Here is Hubbard's so-called factual and scientific truth that all
Scientologist's must not only accept as reality but experience as reality:

75 million years ago, the galactic overlord for this sector of the galaxy was
called Xenu. He was in charge of 76 planets, including Earth (at that time
known as Teegeeack).

All of the planets Xenu controlled were over-populated by, on average, 178
billion people. Social problems dictated that Xenu rid his sector of the
galaxy of this overpopulation problem, so he developed a plan.

Xenu sent out tax audit demands to all these trillions of people. As each one
entered the audit centers for the income tax inspections, the people were
seized, held down and injected with a mixture of alcohol and glycol, and
frozen. Then, all 13.5 trillion of these frozen people were put into
spaceships that looked exactly like DC8 airplanes, except that the spaceships
had rocket engines instead of propellers.

Xenu's entire fleet of DC8-like spaceships then flew to planet Earth, where
the frozen people were dumped in and around volcanoes in the Canary Islands
and the Hawaiian Islands. When Xenu's Air Force had finished dumping the
bodies into the volcanoes, hydrogen bombs were dropped into the volcanoes and
the frozen space aliens were vaporized.

However, Xenu's plan involved setting up electronic traps in Teegeeack's
atmosphere which were designed to trap the souls or spirits of the dead space
aliens. When the 13.5 trillion spirits were being blown around on the nuclear
winds, the electronic traps worked like a charm and captured all the souls in
the electronic, sticky fly-paper like traps.

The spirits of the aliens were then taken to huge multiplex cinemas that Xenu
had previously instructed his forces to build on Teegeeack. In these movie
theaters the spirits had to spend many days watching special 3-D movies, the
purpose of which was twofold: 1) to implant into these spirits a false
reality, i.e. the reality that WOGS (Hubbard's derisory term for anyone not a
Scientologists) know on Earth today; and, 2) to control these spirits for all
eternity so that they could never cause trouble for Xenu in this sector of the
Galaxy. During these films, many false pictures and stories were implanted
into these spirits, which resulted in the spirits believing in all the things
that control mankind on Earth today, including religion. The concept of
religion, including God, Christ, Mohammed, Moses etc., were all an implanted
false reality that to this very minute are used to control WOGS on Earth.

When the films ended and the souls left the cinema, they started to stick
together in clusters of a few thousand and remained that way until mankind
began to inhabit the Earth. Today on Earth all the spirits of these aliens
have attached themselves to our bodies and are the root cause of the false
reality that all but Scientology's "Homo Novis" or OT 8's on earth experience.
It is the job of all Scientologists to remove this false reality from the
world by auditing each and every space alien spirit and human on earth and the
entire universe to CLEAR. For those who oppose Scientology and stand in their
way like the Lisa McPherson Trust and all Scientology critics, Scientology
promises to do away with them "quietly and without sorrow".

We have calculated that on average, each person on planet earth has 2,209 of
these Body Thetans (BT's for short), Hubbard's term for the alien spirits,
attached to you causing you to be constrained by Xenu's false reality. The
average cost for Scientology to OT 8 is a mere USD 360,000, meaning that each
BT only costs USD 163 to clear. Now that is a bargain if there ever was one.

Thanks for posting this Sarge! Now I get the whole thing... I'm on my way to Hollywood as we speak to try the stress test again and this time, I REALLY want in! I'm a BELIEVER!!!!

....or folks believing that they exist because some supreme being fashioned their ancestors out of mud and their spouse out of a rib...

actually, many Christians (specifically Catholics, the largest sect in the world, by a long shot) do not take the creation story literally. it is, after all, a revelation of man that is thousands of years old. such concepts of science, especially at the cellular level (or smaller) couldn't be comprehended by man at this time. the story of "the creation," is simply a big picture, and actually lines up pretty well with the theory of evolution (and by pretty well, i mean very well, and remember, this story was written thousands of years ago and orally, longer than that). not all Christians live on a compound, marry 11-year-old girls, don't believe in dinosaurs, etc...; Catholics actually accept evolution (yes, you read that right) and think that everyone is accepted by God and goes on to Heaven. people who think all religions/religious people are nuts and crazy, and who cannot see any truth to their beliefs are just as ignorant as those fundamentalists who think the earth is 4,000 years old and dinosaurs never existed. there is a balance in the middle where bits and pieces from many theories come together to yield the truth.

the problem, as i see it, are people with little minds who cannot see past their own personal or group-forced dogma. the person drinking rat poison and handling rattlesnakes is no different that the person who believes this is the norm for "christians." they are indeed the same small-minded person.

I don't believe in either by any stretch. It's just with Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, etc - they've been around for centuries and are firmly cemented within mainstream thought. Scientology on the other hand, it's puzzling how people believe in its mythos despite the fact that they weren't raised on it for generations

I was raised catholic. Went through communion, confirmation, religious instruction, etc... so I certainly don't need a lecture in what catholics believe. I'm also aware that many catholics don't take every tenant of the religion literally or follow them completely, however, that doesn't change the fundamental ideas of catholicism, which are ridiculous IMO. As I said, praying to imaginary superheros is silly to me, however, I fully support your, or anyone else's right to do so. Just because I cannot see any "truth" in catholic religious beliefs does not make me ignorant.

This is what I was talking about when I brought up money... I think Scientology actually helps its higher level members make money. Like tax breaks through "donations" etc... Effectively making sure the rich stay rich. I mean honestly, why else would someone give up all logic in the name of fucking Xenu? Ill tell you why:
