ahhh come on boys, its all good. Cornfords are great, so are camerons... different strokes for different folks. I know Jay Strange was from Florida and has a ccv...

i swear... today at work i tried every amp we had, and they all sucked compared to my camerons lol .... closest i got was a mark 5 boogie and that wasn't even CLOSE lol although i got some ok tones out of it... the bass is just farty ....yuck!

Definitely no CCV in a MkV. Just sold mine last month after several months of holding the door open for moving other stuff around. No bottom end to even come close to a Cameron. Channel 3 way to grainy. Channel 2 gets a decent 800 tone, especially if you run a quad of 34's in it. There is nothing in my arsenal, except a Cameron - that can deliver the bottom end like I like it (and most of us it seems like the same) plus deliver the highs that will stay together at the same time and allow the mids to cut through. Some amps do one or two well, but the CCV is the only one that will do all three that I have played or owned. Most of us seem to have gone around the same circle in that respect.

Steve
This is exactly how i would describe the MKII50 with EL34's and RCA 12AX7's... I keep my bass control on 2! The MKII50 is cabinet-dependent though. I use a Cornford pine MK 4X12 cab.

where are you finding a stash of the the RCA's at? they seem to have dried up. US NOS 12AX7's in general are getting difficult to find the last few months.

I got 6 of them off of ebay last month. They were originally made for Hammond. The tubes that were sold to Hammond were screened for the lowest signal to noise ratio... If you see any - definitely grab them.

The RCA's have been the "secret weapon" of many players for years. I think the original Vox AC30's were loaded with them? That's another amp I want to get... An AC30, or even an AC15.

Please note: The thread reads "Comparable Amps" - does it not? What you want, is for me to get on here and say that the CCV is the greatest amp ever built. Well, it isn't! I listed several amps that I compared, and chose the Cornford over the rest. If you cannot deal with the fact that the CCV is not the "be-all" amp to everyone who plays it, then I don't know what to say? It's a great METAL amp - that's it. I've played 2 Cameron modded amps, and a CCV. IMO, the modded Marshall's sounded better than the CCV. I've listened to the clips, and again - I'm hearing a great sounding METAL amplifier.

If you think that the Cameron amps are the best amps in the world, then that's your right to think that... But don't expect everyone else to agree with you dude. There's nothing unique about the sound of the CCV IMO. It sounds like a well modded Marshall - nothing more. However - the word "unique" defines the Cornford MKII50 to a T! No other amp out there sounds like a Cornford - no way! I would love own a CCV - if I played with an 80's style Metal sound, but I don't. Judging by all the drama I'm reading here, I'd hate to have put my thumb up my ass waiting for it to arrive... :scared: What's up with that?

Look Dude...

Most of us play Metal here... And I would put SuperUnknown's Chops up against yours any day. Secondly We go through amps here like people change their socks... I have a 30 year old Brand New Condition Marshall JMP that has been modded to the hilt... I also have a Diezel HERBERT that has been Modded a $5,000 head... With a MILLS Cabinet... An Egnater Renegade, and TM212 cab for a practice amp, and at least a half dozen other big name amps. I have spent thousands just changing speakers around... I'm an Audiophile that has a $250,000 Tube/Analogue HI-FI.... So what I'm saying is I'm OCD, and I KNOW SOUND, and with the Cameron CAB.. The CCV to me is the End All Amp PERIOD!

I don't like the Cornford... They're BRIGHT to me... But then I'm not on the Cornford forum am I, I'm on the CAMERON Forum, and we are all here cause we are like minded individuals... Have you come here to antagonize? Especially with 3 POSTS!!! That's not a way to make friends dude. :gethim: Are you A Troll? I mean... It's like if this was the Conservative Republican's Club, and you came here being a Progressive Socialist it would only be to get into a fight... Right? Right.

Ok.. So we get it, you like Cornfords... So maybe it's time to move on?

Thanks...

Cameron, give it a rest you douche nozzle...all your Cornford spew is nearly cut and paste from your previous spew...remember, the spew before you were banned? Living under those power lines has fried your brains.

While we're at it, sell your cheesy Strat elsewhere...

For what its Worth, I think that you are a bit Kooky but in a totally good way and I can guarantee you that I would say that to your face

IMHO, I dont think that Echodrive came off as a douche and pretty much gave his opinion based on the topic. If hes being a troll, hes being a very benign one IMO.I dont agree with him and for me, Cornfords just dont do it even though Ive heard glorious tones come out of them, I cant make them work for me.

As far as Marks amps go, Ive played no less than a dozen of his modded Marshalls and maybe 6 CCV's and 2 or 3 CCM's. the odd thing is that Every single one of his modded Marshalls were friggin KILLER but I couldnt connect with any of the Cameron Amps except one CCV at the NY amp show last year and the year before maybe.... Strange indeed..

BTW, where are you in NY? Im in Manhattan in the East Village...

EDIT, DIdnt realize that this guy may have some history here after I read Steve(Velcro_Fly's) post above... either way, I still dont think that his posts have been bad.

A troll ? so far beyond troll.... it's J. Cooper Cameron in all his glory. nuff said.

So it would seem..... :D it would also seem he's fallen off the wagon

BTW-

I dig the Cornfords, but they're not comparable to a CCV. Not at all. Totally different deal.

Oh, and the CCV is FAR from just a metal amp....really far :D

I knew a guy like you... He was actually my best friend. We both started lifting weights together (Olympic lifting). He eventually got into body-building. I guess he thought that if he lifted weights, he would be able beat-up everyone in the world? He eventually started taking oral steriods, and advanced to Dianabol Methandrostenolone. He got so fucking huge it was crazy! The psychological effects were frightening to say the least. The people at Weider wanted to sponsor him. They even offered to fly him out to Santa Monica to train with them.

One night we went to downtown Orlando, where we ran some guy that Elliott worked with. Apparently they were both after the same girl. They began talking smack to each other, until eventually a fight ensued! Now, this guy was maybe 160 lbs max., and about 5' 10" tall. Elliott stands 6' 1", and was an easy 220, with no body visible body fat. He once bench-pressed 500 lbs! Well, this "bone-rack" as Elliott called him - fucked him up! It was actually kind of funny really... I mean, it really straightened him up quite a bit - because like you, he lived with the illusion that he could just beat-up anyone who wasn't as big as him. It would have been a lot cheaper (and healthier) to have learned how to box! He was no street-fighter either, so that fight was pretty much over before it began.

I hadn't seen him in over 20 years, so I tracked him down last year. He was nowhere as big as he was, but then again I now weigh 243 lbs. I weighed like 170 the last time I saw him. But he didn't have that "roided-out" look to him anymore. He said that he lost 30 lbs of muscle weight when he quit using the dope. He had been getting facial treatments done, as the roids really fucked his skin up... Bad acne!!! His skin has stretch marks all over the place. Apparently he started having health issues (liver I think?) from the steriod use.

You don't even know me - yet you're issuing threats? If you and I met, you would probably think that I'm a really cool person. But remember - I like chicks only! No slippin the skin-bannana in the plentiful bounty!

I'm not trying fuck with you here, but that flexing arm avatar photo is just about the most homosexual looking image ever! You have GOT to change that avatar bro! If you're gay, then that's cool... If that's how you roll, then suck it belongs to Rob Halford I say.

Well thanks for you kooky in a "Good Way" remark... I think?

In any case Never Called him a Douche... Check above... I really don't like getting into internet name calling... I've always found much greater satisfaction in arguing with someone in person!

In any case Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I would be the first to fight for that! It's just that there are not many CCV owners, and we are for the most part a tight group, and love our amps... Cameron for what ever reason you wish to apply has a pretty loyal following, I'm friends with Mark, and dislike the bashing... and this guy sorta went there too. Mark is a good guy that's a terrible business man... He had an agreement with a business partner that totally screwed him over, and has put him in a bad position from which he is constantly trying to play catch up.

None the less... I understand some customers frustration. But am confident that Mark sooner or later will make everything right.

Other than that... I say that just maybe this guy in his vociferous proclamation of Cornfords superiority to a CCV might have been better served in another location... I.E. the Cornford Thread? When a group of people are passionate about what they own... Is it being a good Citizen to come into their midst and be a detractor?

I for one No, that if he went on the Cornford forum, and said... Hey I think my Cornford KILLS a CCV he would have been more enthusiastically received even though a Stranger... I for one would never post a rebuttal over there... NEVER, they are there because of what they believe... As we are here because of our beliefs...

I'm just saying... when you come into a community... It might have been better served not to be insightful that tis all...

Patently logical. Will do...

I went through some more of your clips... Wow! Most people don't achieve that level of playing. Your "phrasing" is your strength IMO. Great tone too! What amp were you using?

I have been on this forum for a few years. Great place to hang out and for 99% of the time everyone is really cool with one another.
So it REALLY REALLY STICKS OUT.....when someone comes in and starts SLINGING SHIT!

Its really not needed.
Opinions are always going to be there. Cant force what someone likes on to someone else.
And if they DONT AGREE they are wrong?? :dunno:

Leave the shit talking out of here as entertaining as it is.
I happen to dislike alot of amps....but I dont slam them since others love them.
I like the Cameron amps but love my Diezels.
Guys here hate Diezel and like Elmwoods.....go figure....
its what makes it all go around.

Thanks...

Roid RAGE

Wow! You are a total fucking kook... :loco:

It figures you would resort to name calling...

I never get involved in stuff like that over the internet it's so easy for cowards to be brave behind a computer screen... Guaranteed you would never say it to my face

No slippin the skin-bannana in this plentiful bounty!

I'm not trying fuck with you here, but that flexing arm avatar photo is just about the most homosexual looking image ever! You have GOT to change that avatar bro! If you're gay, then that's cool... If that's how you roll, then suck it belongs to Rob Halford I say.

No worries guy... I'm totally confident in my masculinity... And Being big has nothing to do with being tuff... And I guarantee you have never known anyone like me... And I'm certainly not like your friend.

Funny how you mentioned boxing... I trained At Gleasons Gym in Brooklyn for 5 years... I would love to meet you in person, so you can open your big mouth to me face to face... Going to the NY amp show perhaps! :D

Have fun tuff guy... Maybe I'll see you there?

Kage...

I'm Upstate BTW.

And... Interesting that you say you played 2 or 3 CCM's.. AFAIK there are only 2 in exsistance... One being Chris Schmidt's that you probably played at the show last year in NY...

Bro, please dont Misunderstand anything that I said, I have ZERO problems or issues with you or anything that you said, especially in light of what Steve(Velcro) brought up.

RE the CCM's, one was Black Tolex and the other was Snakeskin I believe. I played them at the NY show as well as at Paige(Amplifire's) home when we all got together a year or 2 ago..

Yes the Snakeskin was the CCM, and Black was a CCV

The CCM is a little to Radical for me... I'm kinda stuck in the 80's a lot

Best,

For some reason, I thought that both the black and the snake were BOTH CCM's ( I may have played a black CCM with Dawnofdreams at the NY show)... Either way, I was a little disappointed and surprised, especially considering that Marks modded Marshall were all unbelievably good sounding..

Im with ya about being stuck in the 80's, I am in a big way as well but Im an AxeFx guy until I die, the thing just does everything that I need it to do in spades..

BTW, heres a pic of me about 4 1/2 years ago when I was 43..

Kage1.jpg

Still have most of the strength but Ive had to take a serious break because the connective tissue and joints are in bad shape, I go through 4 Aleve a day just to be able to move. I resume training in the next few weeks because Ive been banging the hell out of the heavy bag and speed bag on a regular basis and feel pretty damn good. Ive been missing the steel for WAY too long..

Peace!!!

Show me where I threatened you... You are the one talking about fighting... Calling names. I'm Gay, my Avatar is gay... Saying your friend was big too but not tuff... AND GOT HIS ASS KICKED WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

I NEVER ONCE CALLED YOU A NAME! NOT ONCE.

I NEVER INSULTED YOU! NOT ONCE!

THE ONLY THING I DID WAS QUESTION YOU COMING HERE, AND INSTIGATING... THAT IS ALL.

YOU HAVE DONE A GOOD JOB... ARE YOU HAPPY? YOU GOT ME! NOW YOU CAN SIT IN YOUR MOTHERS BASEMENT AND GIGGLE.

I LET A CHILD GET TO ME!!!

GO AWAY!

I must Apoligize to the Rig Talk Community... for these outbursts... Know that I never insulted this guy or resorted to name calling, etc.

It's not what this place is for... FOR SURE! BUT I LET HIM GET TO ME!

For those of you that don't know my sitsuation. I pull Long hours sometimes 60hrs a week or more, and take care of 2 Parents that are very Ill.

Sleeping no more than 3hrs a night takes it toll and gets to me, and I'm ashamed to say sometimes the sacrifice gets to me... I'm SORRY.

I'm sorry that I let THIS GUY get to me... You know I care about this place a lot and care about a lot of the people here. I can come here sometimes and forget about the bad things.

Please Excuse me, I don't always have my wits about me these days...
