Egnater on NAMM thread...

I got to stop by the Egnater booth twice. I was so busy this year (distributor meetings, etc) that I didn't get my normal NAMM fun of hanging out with Bruce and/or Jeff for a while. (Actually, I don't even know if Jeff was there, but I did stop by while Bruce was busy talking to people). However, I spoke with John Ewing for a moment, which was nice. He gave me a nice verbal explanation of the Armageddon, sounds like a winner!

I didn't get to listen to it, but I'm very much looking forward to trying one out. :)

How is the Armageddon voiced? Who is their target consumer?
Honestly when My buddy and Eric played this thing it sounded great, and it is very versatile,it CAN DO METAL and everything inbetween but from what Bruce and John said, definitely the young crowd of Metal heads

+1. I didnt like it the first time I heard it in the wrong hands, but dialed in with the right player it sounded GREAT. I think it sounded better than a Herbert for 1/4 the price.

I wonder what Mark Day has got to say about the Armageddon. I liked the sound in the youtube vid where he was playing it.

Ouch....I'm feeling a little beat up here but....it's OK.

1) Not sure what "new" Egnater stuff you would like to have seen? E2 was basically finished and there but....alas....something went wrong after being on for 10 hours a day, day after day. That is why NAMM is good for testing/burn in. Bad when something fails, like E2, but gives me a good test. Actually, E2 was down for one day because some "bonehead" (me....) plugged it in wrong. The poweramp is definitely a long term developement process because we are attempting to break new ground with it. Still going to be a while.

2) We definitely are struggling to set up "good" service around the country. You have no idea how difficult it has been to find good service places. If you know of qualified/reliable service people where you live PLEASE tell us about them. We can use all the help we can get on this.

3) I do finally have a fix for the MOD100 hum. It is as simple as soldering a wire in. Please contact me (bruce@egnater.com) and I can tell you how to do it. If you can't do it yourself, maybe you can find a friend who can solder? It's really that easy. Not that it was that easy to figure out, but the physical fix is simple.

4) Not sure what new modules you were hoping for. I thought the line was pretty filled out. Sorry if we implied there would constantly be new module designs. You can only do so many variations on the same circuits. There are quite a few modifiers out there now that are covering many of the things we don't do. Orange, Soldano, Bogner etc....etc....

5) No comment on the Chinese vs US thing. I don't want to get involved in that "religous" discussion. I know I will just get beat up again.

I do want to thank all of you who have supported Egnater all these years and I hope we can continue to keep you in the family, even through the difficult times.
THANKS
Bruce

"The Modular line has been growing like crazy. We’ve been quietly working on some new designs in the modular line that we are very, very excited about. We hope you will be, too. Can’t tell you about them yet…or we’ll have to kill you…just kidding."--From the Desk of Bruce, March 2009

Bruce, I think the anticipation stemmed from this blurb in the Egnater updates section back in March 2009. It's pretty ambiguous and a good imagination can come up with a lot of things: Are they releasing a small wattage combo? New modules? A four-module space head? Signature modules? What's the top secret stuff??

Truth be told, any disappointment I had was just speculating on the anticipation of what you guys would release and then seeing that there was no modular news to report.

I'm sure others felt the same, but I know there has been hype about a possible Mark 2/4 module.

Regardless, the other stuff is understandable. You guys seem to have grown in 2009 by leaps and bounds and with that comes everything associated with it - good & bad. I have always received great service from you guys and have no qualms about that.

Thanks for a great product -- I love my M4. I can't WAIT for the power amp.

"4) Not sure what new modules you were hoping for."

I am hoping for a Mark IV type module. Are you guys still developing this or...?

I enjoyed the pitch you gave at the show, I only wish I'd had time to try it out (I spoke to you when someone was filming in the quiet room).

Both should be shipping by May/June

That is what NAMM stands for, after all:

Not Available, Maybe May ;)

I can recommend a couple of places in the Boston area:

Mr. Music on Harvard Avenue in Allston, MA. http://www.coolguitars.com

Mouradian Guitar Company
810 Main Street
Winchester, MA
01890
1-781-756-4877

Aztech Electronics
(617) 926-6725

246 N Beacon St
Watertown, MA 02472

Becker Guitars- Your place in MA- is good but it is too far from the Boston market, where there are several GC stores that sell your stuff. At least one closer place would be god.

How do you get a hold of Egnater? I tried calling for 2 months. I just wanted to have my T/D modded to a D/D and ask a few simple questions. Is this normal service for Egnater?
