FORTIN's Evil Pumpkin – Made in China?

Weird thing happened today which in a weird way is on topic with the whole Larry & Fortin thing... I got a youtube comment that later turned in to an email from a company that makes a certain pedal asking if I could send them my Fortin modded pedal to them so they could look at the mods that was done. Is that a thing? Would I be a dick if I let them borrow it for that purpose? The guy asking was super nice and very legit.

Steve k's moose knuckle mod was an amp mod done by Fortin.
He sold it and right after was contacted by Mike Fortin saying he was supposed to sell it back to him if he ever decided on moving it on. Steve didn't give a fuck.
Something about intellectual property whatever...probably more Larry shit in there
Anyways...he probably wouldn't mind

Yeah parts arent hard to get really except stuff like PCB's and transformers. Also depending on where they get chassis or faceplates from. I actually took advantage of working from home to work on some projects at home. I've ordered from Mouser, Digikey, Newark, with no delay whatsoever with nothing backordered.

Transformers are hard to come by right now for specialty iron. I do know that for fact. Maybe you can order a few standard model but to buy 20-50 units of each probably isnt happening yet.

Only fools are ordering transformers like 'just in time'

For my 'modest' production capability I've always transformers, chassis, face plates, head shells, foot controller housings, aso. for at least 2 years in stock.

All required components anyway.

Just to clarify again, despite all the nonsense, none of this is true, and the EVIL PUMPKIN is handmade in the U.K. Just popping in every couple weeks to remind everyone how little actual factual information is in this thread. If anyone is interested in the EP, feel free to hit us up. Looks like the first run will be going very quickly! Cheers guys!
Pm you days ago with $3k in my account asking to confirm what I said is untrue. Read message, no reply. Can't confirm all same parts and production amp will be the same as NAMM amp?

C’mon now, no one believes you for a second that you were going to buy a Fortin Amp. You stated that countless times. Trolling?

Anyway, supply chains are messed up. Electronic parts coming from China, as most do, are being help up. A lot of amp builders are struggling to get amps made.

Larry claims he doesn’t have that problem, but still amps aren’t being made...

I see no indication of an immediate shortage of the passive parts used in a guitar amp. Mouser, Digi-Key, Farnell, Newark, Arrow, Distrelec, and etc. all have everything you could ever need. No idea what parts Fortin plans on using in the Evil Pumpkin, but I can tell you the parts used in the Meshuggah, Cali, and the Super-Hi (built in the UK) all use readily available parts (except for the NOS caps in the Meshuggah). Nothing needs to be ordered direct from China.

I guess you could be right assuming that’s where they choose to get their parts. I ordered a pedal and the manufacture was waiting on parts from China, which are held up in customs. I don’t think it’s as easy as you make it to be under these current circumstances but theoretically maybe you are right.

But Fortin is claiming the amp is made in UK. Do they have Mouser there? I don’t know. International shipping is a bitch right now, unless you pay for Fedex, which seems to be pretty good right now. Government postal service is terrible at the moment. Everything is stuck at the border.

Distrelec is the EU version of Mouser, et. al. The UK surely has plenty of other giant electronic suppliers. BTW, Vishay is an American company. So is PRP, CDE, and many of the companies who make the parts most guitar amps use. Some of the more modern surface or PCB mount electrolytics come from China, but the majority of other passive components are actually from US companies. That said, maybe those manufacturers have facilities in China or source their raw materials like aluminum and plastic from China?

Dude who knows. Maybe it has nothing to do with shortage of parts. The world is f’d up right now. Maybe they aren’t allowed to build amps because it’s deemed non-essential?

They are currently building Sigils

At this point idgaf where amps are made, I just want a good amp. My first inquiry was Tapp to see if I could get a Marzian but no reply and he hadn't been on/can't do big production, etc. My next and what ill probably end up with is the MI Megalith.

But out of every amp clip ive heard theres just something about the EP that brings me back. Sounds sick AF. Idc what Krudd believes or anyone else thinks is true. Like I said, I heard from someone whos on good terms with Fortin has bought their expensive products, etc about this possible issue so I inquired. No real response, no reply to direct pm and if im not mistaken they removed the other EP video off their website. If theyre using different parts it wont be the same amp and that's all im asking. Lots of red flags for me to drop $3k

That TAPPP Kemper profile is the tightest thing ever
Is that on rig exchange?
I'm curious too, Ray.

Not bi-curious; just curious about the Profile.

No homo.

That's a happy guitar player there with his tone in that room. That's how I felt when I bought my first C+. I'd just chug, chug, chug because I was amazed at how the amp would grab the speaker with an iron fist. It pounded you and was so strong, chug, chug, chug!
There's a lot going on with that tone, it's not straight up amp. Go to 2:55 and give a listen to the release of the note and how it's followed/tracked. I'm not saying it sounds bad, it sounds great, but will it work or play nicely with others? Tone can get so brittle and percussive it begins to sound like a synth with all the guitar timbre gone and it becomes some sort of mishmash of confusing noise.

Yep. Ridiculous fleecing going on if indeed the amp is made in China. And, anyone knows that different brands of capacitors/resistors/Transformers WILL make a difference in the tone. Fact. So, if the NAMM Amp(Sorry I though the clip sucked rancid ass, at least one that was posted here..maybe there's another?) is not made of the same exact parts..not just the values, same exact parts...then that's pretty clear to me that this is a bait n switch.
Not cool at all.
