Integrity is not conditional, you either have it or you don't. I believe that Bill and Hillary both lack it which makes her not a good choice. I don't believe that Bush actually lacks integrity, I just think he over delegates to people that have their own agenda's. He doesn't appear to think for himself enough and doesn't lead the team but more or less just oversee's them. This also makes him not a good choice. It seems like a lot of the reasonable people in his cabinet bailed early while the "evil" ones are either still there or were forced out by public opinion (Rumsfield).

It's a scary thing when all the politicians really believe that they need to have/allow things like the wiretap laws and Guantanamo Bay to protect the American people.

I think again we're going to have to pick a candidate that is not necessaryly a first choice but the lesser of two bad choices. Just my opinion...

The fact of the matter is that there are really no “stand out” candidates in either party. Another Clinton reign would completely destroy our already fragile nation. Forget about the BJ, and consider that the Clintons spent more time in the news for illegal matters that any other administration in the history of our country.

While I believe that the situation in Iraq has not been handled well, to completely remove our troops at this time would make matters far worse in that region and the rest of the world. The one positive things that the war in Iraq has done is given the fight a front. In other words, it’s kept Osama out of our backyard. The major problem with this war is the political process. If we cut our military loose to handle the business at hand, the problem would be resolved by Christmas. However, when troops have to call Washington before eliminating a high priority target, this gives the target time to move. When we can eliminate the congressional “middle man” we’ll be out of that region sooner.

Back to the matter at hand, politicians lie. They make grand promises of hope and change, but once in office it’s more of the status quo. As long as they can vote themselves a nice fat pay raise- they’re happy. There seems to be very few men left who will go to the mat based solely on their principles and character. The Roosevelts and Trumans of the world are a distant memory.

Our nation has faced tougher challenges than what we currently find ourselves in. The difference is that the ones pulling the strings lack conviction and character. At the moment I see another four years of the same ole same ole ahead for our nation.

...in the next fifty to one hundred years I forsee a shift from the United States as a giant republic to a collection of something more akin to city-states, due to the backlash from terrible candidates year after year and division growing between political groups and the tendency of those groups to be fairly localized in a specific area. That is, a confederacy of sorts. It's already happening. Silicon Valley is very much a city state, for all intents and purposes. Look at any other metroplex, as well. Dallas, Houston, New York. I believe there's a high chance that it won't even be the United States in name. The country is just too huge to keep everyone happy with broad blanket laws that a)aren't always right to begin with, and b)aren't tailored to individual areas in the US.
