...in the next fifty to one hundred years I forsee a shift from the United States as a giant republic to a collection of something more akin to city-states, due to the backlash from terrible candidates year after year and division growing between political groups and the tendency of those groups to be fairly localized in a specific area. That is, a confederacy of sorts. It's already happening. Silicon Valley is very much a city state, for all intents and purposes. Look at any other metroplex, as well. Dallas, Houston, New York. I believe there's a high chance that it won't even be the United States in name. The country is just too huge to keep everyone happy with broad blanket laws that a)aren't always right to begin with, and b)aren't tailored to individual areas in the US.

Isn't what you're describing the reason we have Mayors, Governors, Senators, elected town officials, etc. And states do have some of their own particular laws.

OK, I've sat on this one too long. Bill Clinton was impeached. Impeachment is the trial by a legislative body, but he wasn't convicted, aka removed, from office. I'm not going to get into the deep rooted politics of this argument, but is it not sad that today we are forced to vote for the candidate that we feel is the least of the evils (poor wording I know), rather than the best for the job? Shows that something has changed----is it the government, people who run the government, or (gasp!) a lack of action by most Americans? I'm not accusing anyone here, but most Americans are uniformed about economics, politics, and the issues going on around us (not just in the world, but in our own country.)

Integrity is not conditional, you either have it or you don't. I believe that Bill and Hillary both lack it which makes her not a good choice. I don't believe that Bush actually lacks integrity, I just think he over delegates to people that have their own agenda's. He doesn't appear to think for himself enough and doesn't lead the team but more or less just oversee's them. This also makes him not a good choice. It seems like a lot of the reasonable people in his cabinet bailed early while the "evil" ones are either still there or were forced out by public opinion (Rumsfield).

It's a scary thing when all the politicians really believe that they need to have/allow things like the wiretap laws and Guantanamo Bay to protect the American people.

I think again we're going to have to pick a candidate that is not necessaryly a first choice but the lesser of two bad choices. Just my opinion...

Im not for her stance on instituting socialized medicine in this country yes something needs to be done about the mediacl condition in this country but socialized medicine is the answer. She's not anti war and dont let her kid you she wont pull the troops out. Also she wants the Federal government to be larger and more powerful. All the reasons above is the same reasons why I wont vote the oither side as well
