great tone
great playing

these types of videos inspire me!

quick question....both guitars...same pickup?
sound like a jb in the bridge to me?

what neck pickups in each?

Thanks man. Duncan '78 in the white guitar which has since been replaced with an Arcane Brownbucker. The red guitar has the Duncan Jb in it. Neck pickup in the red one is the '59 and the white one had a Duncan SSL-5.

If the nut on the truss rod is too tight, back it all the way out, apply some anti-seize and tighten it back up. That should fix the issue.

to a 4K Modern that was impossible to do a simple truss rod adjustment. never again

So why couldn't you do a truss rod adjustment ?

#1 the shit tool they give you that could never get a good grip.
#2 the amount of torque needed to move (tighten) the thing would have required a sledge hammer.

Hmm, Suhr is known for great customer service, did you send it back?

THIS. Sounds like a bunch of B.S. to me.

No, I wasn't sending a 4K guitar from Long Island to Ca. over a too tight truss rod. I sold it......

Why not? If there was problem, Suhr would have addressed it. I've never had one issue adjusting the truss rods on my Suhrs. Although, I did have a different problem with one of them once. They simply gave me a shipping label, fixed the problem/shipped it back to me (on the SAME day), and paid for all repairs/shipping charges. So.......

Sometimes a truss rod will 'stick', just a simple push on the neck will free it loose.

Ps, on the Moderns w/ a Floyd, the tool they give you is kinda too short and too small to get a good grip and get adequate tourque to turn the truss rod. They should have a different tool for this

So you sold a guitar to someone you thought was defective?

I had 16 Moderns with FRs, never had any issues. :)

What part of I didn't want to send the guitar across the country over a sticking truss rod didn't you understand? As I said, the tool provided barely gripped the end of the truss rod (even removed the Floyd nut) and if I was lucky to get a grip, the tool was so small to get the needed torque to move it.
The guitar is long gone. Why should I BS about it?

I have a 100% favorable Ebay rating. The issues w/ the guitar were spelled out. I've owned 100's of guitars including Suhrs and never had that problem either. What's your point?

anyway, back to Guthrie and Charvel :) didn't mean to change the subject

OMG!

This guitar addresses my Charvel hate from the latest guitars. If it has a Floyd I want it recessed and why are they going backwards and not sculpting the neck heel any more. This guitar is gorgeous and it has both things I want on a a Charvel that keeps me from owning one again.

This Charvel Custom Shop (Mahogony w/ maple cap) has been my main guitar since I purchased it from Steve about 6 months ago (thanks again  ). Just can't put it down. The quality and asthetics can't get much better either, IMO. The ONLY thing I'm not 100% gel'ing with is the neck pick-up, doesn't seem to have much life and character. Don't mean to derail the thread but any suggestions for a replacement?

Who is Guthrie Govan?

Amazing guitarist that looks like he honed his chops while hidden away for years in a remote cabin with the Unabomber...

No reason to hate on Charvel. They build most guitars without the Floyd recess and without the sculpted neck heel because that's how most customers want them. They will be happy to to recess the trem or sculpt the neck heel for you if that's what you want.

Ummm........I didn't understand ANY of it. It wouldn't have been on your dime.....you wouldn't have had to take it to them yourself......Suhr would have rectified the problem within a short amount of time. So yeah,.....didn't understand ANY of it. That's why I had to call B.S. But, whateva! :poke:

Suhr pays shipping both ways? News to me. Moot point. I shitcanned the guitar.

They will if it proves to be a defect in workmanship. They certainly did for me without question. I didn't even have to inquire about it. Once I told them about the problem I was having, they told me that they'd email me a shipping label immediately....which they did.

Wasn't a point as much as a question...

The way you said it just sounded like you dumped what you perceived as a problem on someone else without a heads up. No harm, no foul. Honest question. :)

I'd like to see Charvel release 2 new "artist" models: Jake E. Lee's white and blue guitars from back in the day

Reissues...
Lynch Submarine graphic
Any of the guitars that Amir Derakh from Rough Cutt owned
Obviously the white DiMartini French graphic will come out
Vivian Campells white red and black skull graphic
