Hey just to throw it out there, if any of you guys have DI stems you'd like me to reamp through one of these LMK.
So, long ago (10-11 yrs) when I got my first SLO I was lukewarm on it; I did a deep dive into the SLO forum and found a thread about the EVH settings. Dime the presence, and start the treble on 0 and work your way up until you like it. Really liked that approach since it gave the amp 'bite' that I really dug; ever since, that's how I dial any and every amp. Sometimes I have to dial it back but mostly, that's what sounds best to me.Check out the settings pic for the Recto, tell me where you want to see the presence & mids moved to, & I'll make it happen.
I’m really drawn to the mark II’s. That IIB is NICE! Really dig the c++ and c+. Which is weird for me cause I’m not really a mark guy at the end of the day. This is fun thanks for putting these out.Alright, I've made some edits! All tracks are updated in the OneDrive folder. Also settings photos are in there.
IIB+ mixtest 2- No pedals. Tighter mids with less 750. The IIB+ & IIC++ settings are now effectively the same other than the C++ has a bit more 6600, and the C++ gets volume from Master 1 (normal) where the IIB+ is running Master 1 & Post FX Master at 5 and getting volume from the Limit circuit. This amp will take your head off if you you set the limit to 0 and use M1 for volume control.
IIC++ mixtest 2- A touch more 6600. Switched from the 4 to the 8 ohm tap to reduce boxiness. No pedals.
IVb mixtest 2- Slightly less 80 & 750. 6600 Dimed. Presence pushed. No pedals. The settings are actually now the same as the Mark IIs other than the 6600.
Recto mixtest 2- Chiron boost only in front. Gain bumped a little. Quite a bit less bass. Mids dimed.

Jeff recommended this to me when I first got the 30 and wasn’t feeling it. Completely changed my perception of the amp and I saw the SLO lightSo, long ago (10-11 yrs) when I got my first SLO I was lukewarm on it; I did a deep dive into the SLO forum and found a thread about the EVH settings. Try diming the P and put the T at 10-1pm, mids at 9-11 and give it a shot.
Yep! That really changed my outlook on how to bring out that 'bite'; Then when I boosted it, game over. Not a super tight amp but definitely in the modded Marshall realm, with a boost. It sounded so good I sold a Cam Aldrich I had at the time.Jeff recommended this to me when I first got the 30 and wasn’t feeling it. I’m new to the SLO but never saw it mentioned as a modded marshall that much (maybe I just wasn’t paying attention). But after having one for a couple weeks, that’s exactly what it is. Kind of the original modded marshall. he didn’t take it to extremes- extra gain and low end, yes but not heaps and not to the point of losing all the midrange texture or anything. Just a beefier/more stout marshall sound. I dig it.Yep! That really changed my outlook on how to bring out that 'bite'; Then when I boosted it, game over. Yeah these are definitely not mastered, just reamped guitars over a backing track. I do have the guitars a bit high in the mix because that's what we're listening to. Final mastered versions coming soon!I think your guitar tones are great. I think it's the rest of the mix that needs work. The drums in particular, I mean. When the drums sound as well-polished as your guitar tones are, they will elevate the guitar tone because the whole mix starts to shine.
The first recto test has more ass but got too bloated, so I pulled some out for #2.Recto mixtest 2 sounding great. Feeling the timbre on the higher notes, low end sounds a little thin to me, maybe by design?
@Racerxrated Alright new Recto tracks uploaded to my folder. P dimed, mids at 10:30, and treble ended up at 1:30. Honestly I do think the top end seems a little more pleasing this way, and surprisingly I'm not hearing a significant difference in the mids. So, long ago (10-11 yrs) when I got my first SLO I was lukewarm on it; I did a deep dive into the SLO forum and found a thread about the EVH settings. Thanks @Bxlxaxkxe. I was never really able to dial tones in to this degree until I started reamping.I’m really drawn to the mark II’s. That IIB is NICE! Really dig the c++ and c+. Which is weird for me cause I’m not really a mark guy at the end of the day. This is fun thanks for putting these out.
Well, with the exception of said late 2B Coli that is then converted into a C+.Thanks @Bxlxaxkxe. I was never really able to dial tones in to this degree until I started reamping.
Like I've said for years, the late IIB Colis with the Limit circuit are the GOAT. @Beyond Black has played the B+ and the C++ at my house, he can attest.
I definitely felt the modded Marshall thing when I boosted it; I had my first G12 65 cab at the time and left the eq pedal on when I turned it off standby..this was around the time when I didn't use a boost with every amp (or experiment with one). I was amazed at how great it sounded with that cheap Dano eq pedal. Sold.I’m new to the SLO but never saw it mentioned as a modded marshall that much (maybe I just wasn’t paying attention). Dig it much better! I know the higher presence brings the fizz that you hate; but give it enough vol and the fizz goes away IMO.@Racerxrated Alright new Recto tracks uploaded to my folder. @mchn13 I did one track (recto racer mixtest) with the same mic setup where the E609 is the primary and the other 2 blended back, and then another version (recto racer mor57 mixtest) with the SM57 as the primary mic with the other two blended back. It's quite a bit different. What do you think?
Cool. What do you think about the one with just your suggestions keeping the same mic setup, vs the one with the same settings but making the SM57 the main mic?Dig it much better! I know the higher presence brings the fizz that you hate; but give it enough vol and the fizz goes away IMO.
The 57 clip was more aggressive; a bit brighter but maybe at the cost of a tiny bit of clarity. I personally preferred it best though. Kinda raunchy so to speak.Cool.
