In Long Island. I currently also have 2 amps at a tech I'm trying in Manhattan that I heard really great things about. I may use him more if he does well since that's way easier for me than going all the way to LI. The guy in LI is certified for Diezel, Engl, many other brands, in fact Mike Bendinelli himself has called him for tech advice before. I currently have 2 Mesa's he's working on (brought many others in the past). He saved a couple of my amp's lives that other techs couldn't

I’ll keep that in mind, Long Island can either take me 45 minutes or five hours to get to depending on traffic from where I am, but if it comes down to saving an amp I’ll do it

Yeah for me it’s usually 1-2.5 hours. I guess if you send it to Hermansson maybe he could possibly update it with the latest features or maybe tweak it to be more voiced for your taste, not sure, but if so maybe it could be worth the cost. If it were to have all the switches of the 5GS Marshall builds I’d think it should be able to get that smooth sound like Brams had if desired (my Marshall 5GS could do that too), but I prefer dialing them in for aggressive tones

Yeah that’s the problem going out there, by the time I get the bill plus driving time and tolls I’m gonna be paying roughly the same as it would be to just ship it to henrick and let him do his thing, if there is something he can add to make it switchable to be a little smoother like brams I might do it

Yeah your call. It cost me ~$250 both ways shipping to Henric in Sweden

Dude I cant even get past using the 1st gain knob on the hell razor, I wouldn’t even dream of using a boost on the HR lol

But no I do not have a Koko boost, I just have the Friedman buxom boost which I’ll turn on every now and then for fun
I should do a video on the 3 gain knobs . It’s like one is the man knob and the other 2 super tweak it with a lot of eq

Smooth ? Thst sounds anti what you want in a Hermanson . Idk . I don’t like smooth but that’s me

Yeah I think the main thing was the controls. Presence cranked, treble down. I like the ability to go from more of a classic modded Marshall to super clanky with his stuff. That’s honestly why I’m really digging his mod currently. It gets smoothish without disappearing. Which honestly would sit really good in a band mix with clankyish bass. I think a lot of people really miss how much of guitar tone in a mix is the bass.

Man treble down ? That’s why yours sounds way differbt than mine . Crazy
i would welcome this GREATLY!!!

and i bet you'd get a ton of hits on YT given how few people understand this amp, let alone have it!!
i will do this !

I could turn it up a bit for sure. And do when I’m playing more metal shit. Micing is quite a bit different though than playing directly in front of a cab. I basically always turn my treble where I like in the room. Then turn it down a notch or two. Where your body is positioned honestly works like a low pass filter. If you put your ear up to your dust cap, that’s what it sounds like under a mic, but is not advised because you’ll blow your ears out lol

I agree, Hermansson's forte to me is aggression, especially in the highs. It's what I go for with them. I don't go for smooth at all either, just saying the Marshall 5GS I had could be dialed in to sound super smooth in the exact same way as his clip if desired, but I dialed mine in for the opposite. That's part of why I kept my Triple Recto Herm over the Marshall (and Carlsbro). It has more inherent grit, aggression and character and 99% as tight/fast lol when compared

Aggression is life for me . I want to rip heads off and offend some as well . Like and justice for all . I find tones today are too smooth and so hidden in mixes. Specks modern bands like spirit box . I can’t believe that tone is that polite

I agree. I generally try to get the most rude, aggressive high gain sound I can. Currently that amp would be my mark iic (way more aggressive, raw than the iic+ or iii's IME). And Justice For All always has been my favorite Metallica album for sure

I also for that reason like JBL, Altec and Crescendo speakers and '60's Gretsch Supertron pickups. Pretty much all speakers and pickups made in the last 40 years or so I also find polite, tame and just plain boring vs those great old ones they used to make. No one I know uses them for metal, but they can yield the most nasty, gritty, raw tones
