How many of you are Strat guys?

The 85 is my favorite bridge slot EMG.
Same here mate. IMHO it's the best all-'round one.

'81 requires a warm wood such as mahogany 'cause it's "cold".
'89 requires a cold wood such as a normal Strat, or you could go warm for jazz only.

The '85 sits nicely in-between. IMHO.

That's a great description of those pickups. Yep, the 85 rules. I can always trust that pickup. I do like the 81...it slays for high gain stuff, but when I play it clean it clips so I don't own any of those. I need pickups that can do clean and dirty.

I used to hate Strats until I got one and got carried away modding it, LOL.

My recommendation is to find a good deal on a used Strat, and then mod it to what you need.

My biggest gripe with stock Strats is that their HSS pickguards are cut with the hole for the bridge pickup way too far away from the bridge, IMO. This leads to soft, blunt, overly smooth tone for aggressive types of music. So I recommend getting a custom or at least an aftermarket pickguard where the bridge pickup isn't a mile off from the bridge itself.

These tones are Heaven on Earth...

That's not me in these demos. I wish I had 10% of that guy's talent.

Best version of Little Wing I've ever heard. Yeah, I said it.

Oh, my...

oooh, gonna have to protest there. That was very cool, but not many Little Wing covers beat Stevie's

Fender strat are the balls on tone i just snag a 60th anniversary CS 1954 strat off from the online retails but are the Fender custom shop really worth every penny spent? Tone, build quality, wood selection etc...

I just got my first "traditional" Strat, a MIJ Hybrid II. Came stock with a 2-pt trem and locking tuners.

Not really being a Strat guy, I hot-rodded it quite a bit.

Swapped the pickups for Lace Sensor Hot Golds, put in a 10-way switch, and added EMG SPC and AB220 active tone controls.

With the EMG tone controls cranked I can get a pretty good hot humbucker sound, and thanks to using Sensors the noise level is relatively low.

Never been a huge strat guy, more LPs, but had an 80s Kramer HSS that I wish I would've held on to. Now you have me wanting one again lol

Ive had maybe ten Fender strats over the yrs. From mid a 70's to a Mark Knopfler sig. Always liked the necks but for some reason they have all been traded or sold. Maybe the single coil sound is not my thing.

I pulled the trigger on the AM PRO II. It's already modded for HH, and has a Jazz/JB. I'll probably ditch the tortoise shell pickguard for a black pearl and black knobs. Probably change the JB for a TB-5. Who knows. If the JB sounds good, I'll leave it.. Has upgraded locking tuners as well.

I have a strat vg. The one that had roland tech in it. Very 2000s.

They have been discontinued for some time. But they show up on reverb enough if you were so inclined.

If usa made is important to you. You should be able to check.

Sound wise. I used it for years as a metal guitar. You could use a knob to set tele, hss, or another strat. To me it was great. No noise on roland sounds. Adjust tuning instantly. Straight up strat sound good. But it is a pain in the ass in other ways. A stupidly bright light. Replacing double a batteries.

I could play metal without all the feedback. It was cool. I still have it but use the standard fender setting and clean/slightly dirty. I've grown since my teen/20s.

Sounds about-right; thanks mate.

IIRC back in the day Roland used COSM (Composite Object Sound Modelling, without looking it up...) in a lot of different areas. Drums in its ROMplers, amps and other FX in its ROMplers and guitar modules and I'm guessing in the actual geetars like the one you used.

It is the cosm tech just googled.

Only sound that is questionable is acoustic. There are 6 acoustic guitar settings. Most are ok. But acoustic has a reverb fx too. It sounds not good to me. And best part is its on full when tone knob is normal/fully on. So reviews online saying its all garbage I question them. Because it's not intuitive...

The guitar screams 2000s to me. A bit gimmicky. Like the blue light. Stock photo shown. Plug a cord in light is on. Not only drains your batteries. But obnoxiously bright. I used it in power outages several times because I couldn't find a flashlight...

But it does have mostly good sounds. And best part to me. Esp since i was gigging and recording punk and metal projects at the time. Roland strat tele and hss. No hum. All true noiseless.

I remember pining over one of those yngwie malmseen strats. A local music shop now closed had one so I could play it. Brings back a lot of memories.

How are you enjoying it?
