My original critique was big picture and challenged the story that is sold to support the status quo (IE the elite class), that anyone can go out and get rich if only they work hard and persevere. You know, the "American Dream" (Amazing it is actually called a dream).
Bitch Power took issue with that because she has built up an ego story about her uniquely hard work and smarts as the reason for her alleged success, which she won't actually explain, other than "Time invested" and apparently some good luck in the markets. Thus she won't acknowledge that other factors play a part in an individual's success, or lack thereof, that are beyond their control.
All of this is not an attack on the virtues of personal responsibility, hard work, ingenuity and an optimistic outlook. On the contrary, these traits are usually necessary for success, just not sufficient. And furthermore I agree that most people can achieve a reasonable standard of living with hard work and smart decisions. But still, factors beyond one's control, such as genetics, place of birth and childhood environment all play a part.
