Cool tone! I kept waiting for Spinal Tap to come breaking out of their pods in the beginning...

Where can I find info on that pedal???

LordofChaos on this forum (I hope I have his moniker right).

I just installed a Duncan Distortion in the place of the Custom in my vigier. I'm going to attempt to re-record the guitar tracks tonight to compare the differences in pickups. We'll see...

Close :D

If you're m3tULz "of" is spelled "ov"

Again, I love the clip Bob!!!

Great clip Bob! How would you compare the pedal to any other boosts you've used. Really like the tone you're playing with!!

O.K., here's a pickup comparison. They're very similar but if you have a decent sound system, you'll hear the difference. The only change is the bridge pup. All opinions are welcome.

Duncan Custom

Marshall JMP and Bloody Murder OD

Duncan Distortion:

Same everything except with a Duncan Distortion pup

DAMN Nice tone. Both pickups have cool things about them. If I had to pick, I guess I'd choose the Custom. It sounds a little "Cleaner", and has a nice upper mid range grind. The Distortion has it too, but not quite as much, and it's voiced a wee bit lower. It sounds a little "Messier" in the low-mids too.

Great clipz

Great tone, especially the rythym.

I'd give the nod to the Custom which was a little tighter and clearer.

id have to go with the Distortion clip...i love the tone of that pickup and to me its a bit brighter and biting...which is exactly what i thought was missing in the first clip. i thought it was a little more present and had a bit more clarity than the Custom tone. me likey

now...if you up the quality of sound over the Retrofitted disc...ill probably just lay over and die   that disc sounds awesome still  and the Uberschall tone still kills me.

On these clips, I think the Custom should go back in the guitar. Nice recording overall! With the Distortion pickup the amp sounds loose, but you may like that.....

Hell yeah, thats the tone right there. Honestly you can sell your VHT stuff because its nowhere near that :D Thrash album you say?

Great clip and it's nice to see the side by side comparison on the pickups. You've reinforced my love of the custom. I've been using them for more than 15 years, but after so long I almost forgot why I liked them better than a more distorted pickup. Both pickups sounded great, but I think the custom clarity gives it the slight edge.

Cool rhythm tone, especially with the Custom pickup. Lead tone is ok, but I like other lead tones you've posted better.

Guys, thanks a BUNCH for checking out the pickup comparisons. I listened last night and while there's a little something about the Distortion I do like, I just cannot get around my love for the custom. In this particular clip, there's a certain smoothness I really like about the Custom. The Distortion may be better for the thrash project because in my opinion it has a more "raw" sound to it, but it looks like I'll again be putting the Custom back in my Vigier. I think I'll throw the distortion in my Mason Bernard though, since it's got Dimarzio Evo's and I'm certain I prefer the Distortion over those.

I agree Bob,
For thrash tones I think the Distortion pickup will RULE.
But for overall sound, I personally like the custom better!
I still want that HUGE shell in the pic...lol

I'm actually thinking that with slightly more top end at the amp, the Custom will be just fine for the thrashin'! Plus, I'm going to drop the Custom in my Mason Bernard which I think will make it sound far better than it does now with the Evo's in it. I've already pulled the pick cover from the Vigier... time to fire up the iron.

I think Doug can make you a GIANT head shell. ;)

Cool Deal! I didn't know the custom pickup would get quite that rude sounding to be totally honest! Wonder if my JMP would fit in that thing...lol... It would be HILIAROUS to tote in a headshell that is almost as big as my torso... I am a bit over 6'2" and it would just be a gas!

whoa nelly! That was killer. Another vote for the custom here BTW.

I'm thinking the head wouldn't look quite so big in front of 6'2". :D

Great signature Marshall upper mid bark, classic tone. Great clip Bob.

Weapon 13! I remember when you posted something about that band here on Rig Talk awhile back :)

If I remember correctly the Uberschall was involved with the Weapon 13 project initially :)
