JMP clip(s) (pickup comparison and D60 comparison too...)

i'm hearing some Accept tones with the Custom on both amps, but not with the distortion?
 
The way I would describe the difference between the Marshall clip and VHT clip is that the JMP one sounds more 'musical' :aww:

I spent a little time listening to all three clips last night and while my favorite is the JMP/Custom, I'm declaring a three way tie. :D

All 3 clips sound great! Don't get me wrong, I just think that first is so sweet sounding. I've really got to try a SD Custom in one of my guitars now.

I guess I'm not much for the VHT voicing I think.

BTW I pulled out my copy of RetroFITTED to put on again and see how the "Bogner Goodness" stacks up with the boosted JMP as well. I'm fortunate to have my pc hooked up to my stereo and have an upgraded 'sound card' to hear things like your clips 'boosted' (so to speak) as well. :yes:

Yep, I've swapped out that Custom in my Vigier for the last time. I like the Distortion but I think I'll use it in another guitar. I've had various pickups in the Vigier and I always end up back with the Custom.
 
Hey Bob,

Your clips sound great. It sounds like he did a great job giving your JMP some love. Mine definitely needs some love and has an appointment to get some. The only problem is the shop I use to ship amps hasn't been open the past two Saturdays. :(

HAHA! Yeah, but I don't have a box. :aww:

I've been tossing around Dave Bray and Dave Friedman for the past two weeks. I'm probably just going to send it to Friedman because he can do what I've always wanted done to one of those amps. Also, I just picked up another Fargen Olde 800, which is a 2204 that sounds really killer and it has a boost switch for more gain.

HAHA! I'm going to have to make a phone call about the box thing or just take off of work and go during the week.

Yeah, he designs a lot of different modded Marshall circuits.
 
Nice clips, BS! I prefer the Custom pickup in the first clip over the Distortion and I really dug the "evilness" of the D60 with that pedal! :D Nice job as usual....

I am diggin' that Bray-modded SLP a ton, that and the Cameron mod LG "Jose" are tops... Whatchu bin up to these days?

Sorry to pig pile on the Distorion and DL along with the others but man that Marshall sounds freaking good with the Custom.
 
listening to the jmp one now, this is probably the best rhythm tone i've heard from you! the lead sounds really great as well, but i've never heard you post a lead tone i didn't like

the d60 one has a little more of an aggressive grind to it that i really dig :rock:

i think i like the vht one SLIGHTLY better, but it's a close call
 
I like the JMP/Custom clip the best too. IMO there is no 'best' PU. Its all about matching it to the guitar.

I'd like to hear the JMP with the Deliverance cab.
