Jose sighting in the wild

Dave Friedman has worked on approximately 50 Jose’s over the years according to Tone Talk episodes, I’m sure he can build you the best version, of the best mods if you are inclined, for $5,000.

If you want an original, and have the money, go for it. If you could never afford it, your opinion on its value is meaningless, you aren’t a potential buyer.

Back in late 90's maybe early around 2000 I found one for sale in LA before Taka did. He is a guy from Japan used to seek and buy early Bogners and Joses,, The guy wanted 2 k for it Maybe it was 2200.. Can't recall for sure, but it was rather unremarkable and very noisy.. I had my Bogner 100B serial --/ (001). at the time and brought it with me, ( considered trading it but also for comparison sake). My 100b sounded much better and I passed. Would have been a good investment.. but tonally, it was good but not THAT good..

Man, I don’t even know Reza, but it’s pretty funny the hate that has surrounded this, just because it’s him. An actual Jose amp is a rare piece of history, not to mention he actually has several comparable sales in line with the price he’s asking.

We literally have members here on the daily posting things for thousands more than the last comparable sale. I mean I saw one ad that was 8 grand more than the last previous comparable sale.

There’s probably way less than a 1000 people who know what some of the 6 figure or 5 figure classical guitars are, but it’s proven to be more than enough for many of those guitars to have a lot of liquidy on the market (in some cases more than Cameron’s). As for real Jose’s I have no idea, so I won’t go there, but just saying 1000 is plenty if so imo

Probably less people I’d imagine that know what Cameron’s and I bet less than 200 that know what Gjika or Ronin are yet they’ve sold for real Jose prices (low 20’s for these 2 makers in 2 cases I’m aware of)

Sure. Things with a bit of history attached are worth more to the right buyer. But as an actual product, separated from any history of who owned it or who signed it or who modified it, it's just a Superlead with a $15 mod. If Gibson himself signed a cheap Epiphone, it would be worth more. But it's still a cheap Epiphone.

im a little confused how so many either dont understand or just dont care about historical significance :dunno: i guess one mans junk is another mans treasure

I don't care one bit about the historical significance (of which there is very little outside of Rig-Talk). Hell, if my favorite guitarist of my favorite band offered to sign my guitar I would tell him no. I just don't give a crap about this kind of thing. I care about the actual item itself. Do I think a Superlead is worth $20K? No. I don't care if it was signed by all of AC/DC, VH, Elvis, and Babe Ruth... and jointly built by Mike Soldano, Mark Cameron, Jose, and Colonel Sanders.

That said, if I had one and could sell it at a huge profit, would I? You bet.

The whole Jose Arrendondo modded Marshall thing started with Edward Van Halen and his sound so you can expect original Jose modded Marshall’s will sell for a hefty price since Jose is no longer with us. It’s like I have the last modded amp that Mark Abrahamian(Rockstah Mod5)modded before he passed away I was offered crazy money for that amp which I still have and wouldn’t sell it’s a amp that does the Van Halen sound very well.

Cool amp. I’d just like to comment that I was told by Mark Cameron that the store he worked for in the early 1990s acquired all of Jose‘s old amps and partially built amps along with all of the parts Jose used to modify amps. The store he worked for had him finish, at least 12 Marshall amplifiers and they were all sold off by the store as Jose modded amplifiers. I’m not saying this amplifier was not modded by Jose, but I am saying that there are quite a few out there that Mark Cameron actually finished. I believe Mark told me that he saw a picture of the Jose Mike Fortin had and Mark thought that was one of the ones he finished.
That was in the very early 2000's. I was there the day the truck came with all the jose heads and parts and helped them unload. I was there when we noticed receipts taped to the bottom of most of the heads that had the names of every rock star in LA written on them. And that was the day we played the original "Atomica" amp that blew Mark and I away. I lterally tried to throw money at the owner of the store for the Atomica amp that day.

Cause there are a lot of fuckheads on here that don't know wtf they are talking about.

Local Blues player scored a JMP here. Took to an Engineer im good friends with. The Marshall was an OG Jose original.
Had the remote standby & AARCO sticker yada.
The Blues player insisted the amp be "put back to stock".
So it was. Not everyone give a care about Jose Marshalls.
