I'm glad I invested in OG c+ futures! 🤑

how does that reissue play and feel under the fingers vs the OGs?

that was the main appeal of the OG, the rest can be fixed externally.

@Tone Monster here's an ask. I assume you used the same settings on both for this clip..? Assuming so- if you leave the OG as is, then make this shift to the settings of the RI, does it catch up?

- Turn presence up to 7 or 8
- Reduce 6600 to balance the top end back out

On all the other modern Marks, ramping the presence way up really helps to make it more organic like the older ones. Also seems to remove some of the nasal mid hump.
I’ll try that later today.

Yeah in your clip at least it does smoke it easily, but somehow in Hellzington's clip they sounded very similar. Which version IIC++ was it? Simul or Pentode? Is your C++ switchable to + mode to do a more apples to apples comparison or maybe use your IIC+ if not?

It seems in all the Reissue clips I've heard so far there's this slight nasal or bloated quality in the midrange even when scooped on the GEQ. Seems like it stops it from fully getting that classic dense metallic sound of the OG (I don't mean Metallica, but a metallic sound and attack)
For what it’s worth, I think running amps into a loadbox ends up taking away some of the details that make a top tier amp special- kinda like YouTube compression haha. Hell, even using a mic to capture two amps will even the audio playing field a bit compared to the in the room sound.

What do you mean "it feels cheap"? Can you explain this in more detail? Cheap tactile feel is not something I normally associate with Mesa's amps.

The knobs don’t sweep smoothly. They almost catch in certain places. The switches (far right) feel cheap and light.

Tonally it sounds like you don't have the RI EQ'd the same as the OG. Way less treble and presence on the former. Are the knobs/GEQ set in the same positions? If so, that may be your problem since the GEQ's aren't exactly the same.

Hellzington (Mike) gets the Reissue cooking right up there with his original 👍
Very close!
In fact, if he hadn’t told which was which, most wouldn’t have been 100% sure…

This.

They were closer than I thought they'd be, in fact I really can't tell the difference. One was slightly brighter than the other; but other than that the tone was spot on identical.

I don’t. I tried to set it up sounding as good as I could. Had to back off the treble and gain just a smidge because of noise.

Ain't nothing like the OG! Thx for the demonstration!

I had a chance to play hellzington’s original C+ and the reissue over the weekend. The reissue sounded great to me and if you didn’t have an original C+ to compare to I don’t think anyone would complain (besides the oscillation issues I’ve seen talked about). But the original C+ did have more bounce to the feel as well as slightly more gain at the same settings. It felt better to play imo. It was also darker. The reissue was stiffer and had more pronounced high mids which is what you hear in hellzington’s video shootout he did.

Based on what I learned about amp break-in recently, it’s very possible the reissue will end up sounding/feeling more like the original with age.

I wasn’t trying to be sarcastic at all, brother.

But, if that’s as close to the original, as you can get it sounding, I would have it packed up in the box, already on its way back.
It would make no sense to me to keep the amplifier for one minute.

Interesting about the noise. My Mark IV is surprisingly quiet for as gainy as it is.

All good I didn’t think you were being sarcastic. The amp sounds good. There’s a lot more knob turning to do. It’s never gonna sound like the ++
