I'd like to hear one of these A/B'd with a JP-2C to hear how different these amps actually are. I've never really bought into the IIC+ hype and am skeptical (even of the originals). What is it about the IIC+ that people think the JP-2C and other more modern iterations can't pull off?

It’s audible at extreme settings but still present in the amp at above 20KHz in non-extreme settings. You’ll find this amp will eat tubes pre and power until it’s resolved. That fuzz you hear in the topmost frequencies in the gain is caused by instability. The amp needs recalled and fixed.
Another thought, I wouldn't be suprised if they were throwing 4 of all the same color code 6L6 in here even though it's a Simul amp. It remains to be seen if they kept the C+ bias setup or if they went super cold like the modern offerings, but in either case it's possible there are power tubes that are not exactly in the sweet spot. If / when I get one that'll be first order of business to test.

For the guys who have one, what color codes did they ship in the Class A and the Class A/B slots? Are you all getting STR445s?

It's the feels my man, and it's not that we think they can't get it right, they HAVEN'T gotten it right.

If you're a recording studio, honestly you probably won't care as you can get most of them to sound close enough in a mix. Just ask Ola. However, if you're the player, and you draw inspiration for the feedback you get under your fingers and in your body as a player, amps like the C+ and the SLO just can't be beat. Clips just can't tell you the story, have to experience it.

Here's a theory;

maybe Gibson/Mesa knew all along about some design flaw/oversight that causes the high pitched squealing at certain settings and THAT's why they kept it only at dad rock levels of gain...nothing too extreme basically, so that no one could accidentally get it to squeal in those videos.

Or that Dinesh guy just straight up sucks at his job and wouldn't know (how to dial in) a half decent metal tone, even if it bit him in the ass.
:censored:

@frontline205 hey man I'll be in Ft Collins with some time to kill Friday morning. If you still have it maybe I can come check it out?
Hey man posted that I made that listing as a draft just in case, but posted it without realizing. I’m keeping it ultimately cause it fill a need I don’t have. However anyone near Colorado on the forum is free to check it out!

i read about the hype and the amazing feel and whatever on forums for 20 years and never bought into it, then i found mine locally and i can say for me its all totally true, there is a bounce in the feel that is hard to describe ive not felt in any other amp that is really great fun and it kind of sets it apart for me.

I could see that. A lot of people say that about the original 101B Bogner XTCs too. I have very little experience with Mark series amps. So, I could be way off base. haha

Squealing sound? Take a look at the JP2C user's manual and you'll see that they warned you! If you are complaining about something you did but didn't like, you're probably just uninformed, don't blame the messenger. I haven't read the new C+ manual but, of course the amp will squeal with certain settings! That's the thing about any Boogie Mark amp, it actually goes to 11 and far beyond. Boogie states that in their manuals.

Speakers also matter big time, IMO. When I bought my C+, I tried it through a bunch of different speakers and some squealed and some didn't at the same settings. The EVM12L's were the smoothest and the Eminence were the harshest of the speakers I've used. Today, I'm cranking it up through a pair of Celestion G12M75's in an open back cabinet. No squeal, intense bark, nice colors and ripping tone where I actually have to add more midrange. :giggle:

That being said, I don't have all the knobs dimed, not even close to being dimed and the amp is ripping, I'm mean fucking ripping like no other with controlled feedback and gut-punch included at no extra cost.

A Mark Amp will squeal when pushed too far, it's plain and simple. It's a plea for help!

I wish I was good enough shape to snatch and run a 46 pound amp. I wouldn’t even make it out the front door 😂
so far your demo wins the i-net
makes me miss my 2x12 and 4x12 halfbacks🤓

Is Dinesh a DEI hire? that cat couldn’t dial a doorknob. Randy Smith is on a yacht in France sipping champagne and laughing his butt off at this Chibson debacle. Only Hetfield chugging can resurrect this pied piper debut.

This is a very true statement.

It’s like having two equally hot chicks, but one just has that touch that makes you love her
