Most disappointing amp

Friedman JJjr I was expecting it to be a gain monster, able to rival with my BE100... it was Meh at best ! Also I never was a boogie person, I never managed to get a tone I liked from rectifiers

Dual Rectifier Solo Head.

Saved up all summer in 2000 to buy it and was confused and so disappointed. Tried new tubes, different guitars, different pickups, etc. The only way I could make it sound decent was with a Boss SD1. But even with the boost, I just couldn't play leads on it very well. It was like I was always fighting the amp. Every lead I played felt like I was pulling a train with a rope. It was okay for rhythm, but not my thing. The one good thing I can say about the amp was that it had a ton of low end -- I loved that. I traded it for a DSL100 and I was much happier.

The only Mesa amps I've loved are the Mark series. I own a IV and I have tried the V's -- I love them. Every other Mesa amp I have tried, I sold off. Stiletto Ace, Triple Crown, DC3 -- all of them were decent, but they didn't wow me. The Mark series is truly something special and unique that I'm yet to find a better amp from Mesa.

I had an OG Tremoverb 2x12 combo that I loved but sold due to the weight. Many years later the Roadster came out and I decided to dive into the rectifier world again. What a piece of tonal bovine excrement! Couldn't sell it quick enough... This one broke the record for shortest ownership, lasted two weeks... I tried the Road King and it was a similar turn off. I did like the Triple Rectifier though...
Why are roadsters bad ? Roasting I here better shit about

Budda SuperDrive 18, and only really disappointing because it wasn’t loud enough to use with my band. Pretty much every other amp was what I thought it was.

For me it was probably the Ampeg vh-140c. Just sounded thin to me and lacked power I thought (yes i know it's stereo 70 watts a side, i had two cabs) and the lack of a presence control made it impossible to dial in the highs the way I like them.

It wasn't a terrible amp, I was just expecting it to blow me away i guess?

Also never played a Wizard, but from the clips I've heard I'm gonna stay far away. They sound like they lack character for a lack of a better word. Kinda like Fryette. Just cold, sterile, lack of saturation etc...

Divided by 13 JJN 100. very bland and ear fatiguing take on a Marshall. Plus the owner of D13 is a douche nozzle!

Jim Wygle Puplexi. but in all fairness, it may have been faulty. It was has first one. I sent it back and he said the bias was drifting all over the place. He fixed it, then Lynch had it for a while.

Suhr PT 100. dull and boring sounding. A/b with OG Bradshaw OD 100 with Deyoung transformers which blew the PT away..

Someone posted a live clip of their wizard ages ago and I thought the same thing. Just sterile live and cold like it lacked body. Complete opposite of a cranked fender blues amp with body and singing character. The camera was far away too that it wasn’t due to distortion. I wrote it off as recording error and no one else mentioned it so I kept my opinion to myself.

The Gup Tech Que Bec pedal takes the VH next level with its presence and depth features.

I’ve taken enough scolding for everyone over the years for being the lone brave one lol

Lack of saturation, yes. Saturation is one thing I hate in amps. Lack character, nope.

I hear that complaint at gigs all the time….😄

Experienced the same with the /13 and the Suhr. Was a great example of beware of vid clips because I had heard an amazing clip of the JJN and decent ones of the PT100.
