The crunch channel is based on his Dumble ODSSounds like he wanted. Pristine clean, Bogner Blue flavor on the OD channel, and tighter Recto on the lead channel.

Honestly, I'm always scouring the sale pages in the Mark 5 is not an amp that comes up all that often, anywhere. If you would have said rectifier and 5150, that definitely would have been more along the lines of what I'm used to seeingYou ever seen how many are always for sale ? It’s like the McDonald’s of amps . Where I live it’s all 5150or mark v over and over . I suspect the mt100 is next amp like that . And then if you look at reverb every day it makes me wonder how many mark vs have been sold . It’s got to a huge number
I get offered mark vs on trade every time I put something up for sale . It’s ridiculous. I sell amps here and I’ve been given 5 on trade that I sell fast as fuck . Where I’m at it’s definitely generic amp of choice .Honestly, I'm always scouring the sale pages in the Mark 5 is not an amp that comes up all that often, anywhere. I'm gonna have to agree with your assessment................I have to add that I don't hear the clarity or articulation that I hear in Friedman's, vintage Marshall and Bogners. The clean channel sound great but we don't need no stinking clean channels.............Sounds very plastic and two dimensional. I don't care how much low end it has, there's no depth of tone there.
Can you post an example of what you consider an open sounding amp and one of a compressed amp, please? I'm curious as to how you define those.Oddly everyone was so negative on the iconic especially at the price point. I think it delivered in spades
Hard to judge on YouTube but hearing what I’m hearing it might be an amp that’s hype out shadows the actual amp.
I’m sure they will sell like hot cakes.
I wish someone would make a modern high gain amp that was open and not so compressed sounding ?
But, compressed IS the definition of modern sounding, IMO. And dark-ish.Oddly everyone was so negative on the iconic especially at the price point. I think it delivered in spades

EVH 5153s are the DEFINITION of plastic-y. All friggin day. I don't hear any of the EVH thing in this amp. The Iconic though, sounds better to me than any 5153 I've had including both big boy stealths.I

Probably just not much cup of tea since I'm not a Mesa guy but I heard that same kind of plasticy type of sounds out of some the newer Randall RD series as well when I played those.
Out of all the amps in this price range I have to say the EVH5150 Iconic excels at all the tones I like. Now that amp tempts me.........
The reason you get offered a Mk V in trade is, they just aren't that great. Every Mark fan that I know that has had one, either returned it quick or dumped it fast in the classifieds.I get offered mark vs on trade every time I put something up for sale . It’s ridiculous. So you get it ! It’s like the generic amp of this era . They are everywhere lolThe reason you get offered a Mk V in trade is, they just aren't that great. Every Mark fan that I know that has had one, either returned it quick or dumped it fast in the classifieds.
That's pretty much it, in the 12 yrs I've been here. Whenever I've had something for sale, almost every time someone wanted to trade me a Mk V too...so you're not alone.
Yes, and no. I don't think they sold anywhere near the amount of EVH amps....but I think they just get flipped pretty quick or moved on. So it's not because of the high numbers of them out there, I just think people want to like them but many don't. All the previous Marks sound markedly better, according to the great majority. So you get it ! It’s like the generic amp of this era . They are everywhere lol
I agree with this.Sounds like he wanted. Pristine clean, Bogner Blue flavor on the OD channel, and tighter Recto on the lead channel.
Because it’s supposed to be a mid-gain Dumble and not a JCM800. I think people thinking it’s an “overdrive” channel are mislead…they should have named it something else.the Overdrive channel sounds like garbage IMO, the higher gain channel doesn't sound bad, but not overwhelmed especially with it taking 5 years to "design."
I'm fine with mid gain tones, but it still sounds boxy and weak. I've played Two Rocks that sound way better than this channel - based on the video of that channel it's not capturing the Dumble hype.Because it’s supposed to be a mid-gain Dumble and not a JCM800.
