They should ask SteveK for recording advice as ANY of his clips sound better than this.

Lol, he uses a Zoom. We used a Zoom just like he did and everyone said they wanted mics so now we did mics.

I've learned along time ago that you can't make everyone happy with YT clips...impossible. Some people are very opinionated, some say things while at the same time living in paper thin glass houses. BTW this is not directed at you, just a general statement.

I am going to see my audiologist this week I'm hoping she will clear up my obvious issues..lol

sounds good to me - I like the various ways the amp is run in the video - that amp can cover lots of ground.

Dry amp tones suck anyways, if you cannot hear what the amp sounds like with a tad of sauce you will be happy to hear that cheap amps will be just fine for your uses.

I couldn't disagree more with the above statement. If an amp doesn't sound good dry, it's not a good amp (or, the person playing through it is not a good player). If you need to put the so-called "sauce" in the signal chain to make it sound "good", the amp (or player) is a FAIL.

That being said, I know Mark and Brad did the clips with the Axe in the loop as people asked for it.

And just to be clear - I think this amp sounds fantastic. I don't know what some of the above guys are listening to the clip on, but if you listen to it through a good set of headphones, it sounds phenomenal.....clean, crunch and mondo gain tones are all WIN.

You guys did a great job trying to cover allot in a short clip IMO

The amp sounded damn good and I can't wait to play one personally

How much gain was dial'ed into the amp when Mark n' Mark were ripping it?

I thought these sounded good too. Can't wait to get the amp in the next few weeks.
Keep up the good work Mark.

I had the gain right up, Mark C had no where near the gain I had...because he can actually play guitar :)

OK, some rhythm work with big volume working is OK dry.

Has to be loud though, the 100 watt boutique tv volume sucks dry.

I liked Mark's solo tone WET and liked it that he had the gain backed off, very hip.

Some of you men are not being very nice.

Ghost out in 3...........2...............1....................

I like the Gain Almighty of course. I can hear what the amp has to offer, of course the clips will never be as robust as sitting in a room with the amp in person. I liked the clean tones too. Would love to try one someday.

I don't put much stock in clips but.... to be honest.....The tone of the amp does not inspire..

Clips sounded good. I'm not sure what it is but when Mark D plays his tone is consistant. This is not a bad thing, it is a great tone but it is Mark's tone. I don't think it lets the true tone of the amp come thru. I don't know if you can contribute it to the guitar, the recording setup, or just his fingers??? If you go back and listen to the the demo he did using the Luxxtone guitar it has the same Mark D tone.

Only if the amp has a dry tone.

You are a metal dude while I am a 80s supersoaker, of course we would disagree :D

Mics placed in front of speakers with no post don't do much to inspire, but this is what folks wanted to hear. Why??? I have no idea, but that's what we did. I never understood the "lets hear it bone dry and make it sound like a camel stuck in the sand mentality" It doesn't sound anything like it does in the room.

If I posted this clip with my usual post processing and FX people would say lets hear it dry??? I don't get it, lol.

I may just remix this the way I usually do and repost lol.

The Cameron clips that have more "room" in the mix sound better, no doubt.

We had no time or proper monitoring to do mic placement, etc because the store was open and we had people walking in and out all day. The circumtances were certainly not ideal :)

Uh....I hope I don't have to do back flips and say gushy stuff about the CCV just because of obvious reasons - but no part of that amp demo did anything for me. Sorry guys....just being honest.

Steve

i have to agree with steve k on this one. not trying to bash..... just not feeling this amp

My fingers are of the broken variety :)
Even with passive pickups and without SPC boost or Koko or whatever, they be busted.

:)

Mark C used the same amp and recording setup and it sounds totally different, but that boy can fucking play!!!

As Mark posted the clips weren't so good at capturing the amp. This is from someone who actually played the proto.

Ok CCV . My review. The drive section sounds like a vh4 and a SLO had a baby, it's got that vh4 punch but the SLO like gain structure, it was less compressed and brighter sounding that the vh4. It had a lot of balls, when turned up there was a significant mid voicing that really knocks you on your ass, but the mid knob sweep range is pretty cool, you could scoop it or push the mids very effectively, it was a good amp.
Reason being It has the sound you need to kick ass in a live setting (most important to me) , it's the kind of amp you can pummel people with at gigs. It has an fx loop, and midi. (these are kind of important to me personally but I didn't get a chance to test them or anything.

When you roll the volume down on your axe, it really gets nice and was fun to play. Overall It was a little stiff for my taste but I'm sure some tubes , tweaking etc might mitigate some of that, or maybe that's what it would be good for.

Oh yeah, very quiet. Gain dimed, turned up VERY loud, not noisy or hissy at all. That was a good vibe.
