Where do you guys set your MCP pickup heigth? Do you radius the poles?

On the Low end, I'd start at about 2mm, and the Highend about 2.5/2.75mm from the string and fine tune to taste. A little turn can make all the difference so go slowly and you should be able to pound it into submission :gethim:
Wade (MCP)

It's about time Eric!!!! :D So does this mean you like them

they are awesome man!!! they are very versatile, punchy, and growly. the neck is smooth and buttery!!! I love em man. They are the best passive pickups I have ever played. I have a set of Hum sing sing pups to put in my Yamaha Ty Tabor signature series guitar. I have the parts I need on order, so I hope to get those in this week.

Next up is putting new pups in my strat. Those are on order from wade as we speak ;).

Eric

Wade, I was going more by a lot of pickup makers recommending either even across the pikcup or higher on the treble side to bring out highs. I read this a lot in guitar books as well. However, I like your thinking....outside the box. It is all preference.
So.........is my 14.2k Torque anything like the new Eggie Torque? ;)
Is the Bliss the new Eggie PAF?

Guys, I tried the Torque bridge with a 300k volume pot and wow, I love it. I love lower value pots, to me the tone gets thicker, beefier and chunkier while stil having plenty of cut.

I still just have the stock Gibson neck pikcup though.....but I am lucky if I play the neck pickup once a year, LOL!

Oh, man.. Likewise brother!! I would have asked ya to come along and showed you the D-Town and studio and go for some Jamming with some crazy Katz, but I would have kept you out late. Bruce would have had me Azz if you were sleeping in class, lol. That Amp went to the studio, and got the SL and Vox set up and dialed in and then to the Jamm session. Its really remarkable....I stayed on the Vox alot. I like all the Moduals really....
So, Now you have the best amp on the planet and you built it!! What kind of tones did you set yours up for? BTW, That Pizza was the BOMB!!!LOL. I'm gonna have to cruise on that side of town just to get a pizza now!!!

Ya that pizza that Terry ordered up was the Bomb!I got home and hung with the family for a minute and grabbed the head and my SG standard with the Warcry set and cruised to my buddies house and plugged it in and we got all kinds of tones coming from that machine!Bruce has got that thing DIALED from clean to absolute mean!!!Came to the conclusion that it is almost perfect the way it is  Maybe Bruce can throw in some pizza with the next order

Just curious...what type of tonal Bliss were you going for and what did you settle on? Preamp wise.

Wade, glad to see you on here!! Can you do a quick compare/contrast of the Eggie Bliss Bucker and the Torque?? Thanks!

Well, The BlissBuckers are a very nice Paf designed pickup with neutral ground play for versital playing and a perfect amount of drive to the amp with great seperation between the notes without getting to thin- A bit of weight and note clarity at the same time- You can hear the weight behind the notes : )
The Torques have the gerthy mids with great seperation and a bit more signal hitting the amp...There's a small bump in the mids and the lower notes are articulate for fast palm muted runs- The high end is chimey and articualte without getting shear. Splitting the coils are a real treat as well yeilding some remarkable single coil tones....This model was very thought out with lots of planning in regards to splitting capablitys, wire insulation, magnet size, turns per layer, etc capturing the very best of single/humbucking modes......

Wow, so the Torque splits that well? I don't like standard splitting but maybe a series/parallel pot may be in order for my Torque loaded LP. How is she in that scenario?

On the Bliss. Can the Bliss do modern rock as well as the Detroiter? I am on the fence with that one. I have the Torque and soon to get the Afwayus or new Eggie Afwayus for one axe and then the lone LP with no MCPs needs either the Bliss or Detroiter. LOL.

Aren't you making a few Afwayus type designs? One like an underwound Afwayus and one based on it but more PAF?

Yes, the Torque's do split that well. By nature , or science if you prefer some say you can't get an athentic single coil tone from spliting a bucker. Admittingly so, but.....Experience comes into play here heavily. Knowing what coil is going to be split, the tone the artist is seeking in the time era, wind manipulation, core componet size as well as type all can yeild results that can leave a bld spot from scratching your head so much " how'd he do that" Is what I commonly hear. It can be done, I'd say at least 90% and thats being modest. Learning how to counter and Shape the tone differences of the bobbins, and material. It can be done
The Afwayu that your speaking of is a slightly cleaner version. Works very well with Egnater products as well (there is never a gain issue with these amps : ) as anything you'd like, but again being familiar with the Egnater power supply and having some time on all the Moduals is a bonus ( Thanks Jeff!!)
The Bliss can handle anything!!!! The Detroiter is a Hotter Paf type in the mid 9k range with a custom A5. Custom A4's in the Bliss. Bliss was made to bring raw organic tones throughout with great detail and control without being too harsh- a common mistake with builders is they seem to have huge offsets between coils- Again winding properly and turn count are going to play major role in this....

Thanks bro, I am eventually goig to order the neck Torque and do a series/parallel thing in this axe.

I can't decide if I would go Detroiter or Bliss in my Black LP, UGH! LOL. If the Detroiter i thicker, might answer my quesiton, LOL.

Just waiting on selling my GIbson pickups and then I can order up my Afwayu or some similar concoction. Thanks.
