New pickups have landed!

Am I the only one wishing there were decent descriptions of these things? The official script is a little flamboyant, more like something MF would write. It's like the verbose version of PJ Marx back in the day that was something like "Hot as hell, clear as glass, silent as death."

Can we get some comparative descriptions. Some approximate relative EQ curves. I mean causing dragons to fall out of the sky with my new tone is cool and all, but I'd like to know what tonal aspect was the cause. I don't want it to be the amount of smoke I was blowing up its ass.

Seriously, I'm interested in these pickups, but aside from some people saying the Torque is like a better BBQ(which I adore, hence my interest), all the others could sound almost the same: huge lows, extended highs, hot.

If you say it has bass, what other pickup do you think has bass?
If one of your pickups is your most balanced, which one is you most girthy? Which the must cutting?
It's a new sound? OK, what was the inspiration?

I know... just call... That's fine for me, but I'd think if everyone thinking the same thing as me did that, nobody would be getting pickups, so posting those more useful characterizations on the site, as well as here, would be time well spent.

Yeah i agree to a point. But Wade he's a guy that really wants to cater to his clients, so I'd really recommend calling. I have 2 sets of Afwayu's (HH, and HSS set), and set of vintage single coils. I sat on the phone w/ him and told him my rig, guitars, woods, etc etc and he custom tailored the pickups to exactly the tones, outputs, etc I was looking for exactly. Tell him what types of tones, pickups, gear you have, and he'll make you pickups that are really tailored to you, not something that's mass appeal. If you don't like them, he'll rewind them for you to be exactly what you are looking for. His customer service is bar none!

I totally agree with both of these posts,I was looking for more data about these pups ans finally just called gave Wade all the skinny on what I was looking.I wasn't expecting anything just mind blowing or supernatural or anything but after the first set came and the honeymoon was over,I was very, very pleased with the results and when my fourth set arrived,I was absolutely floored. The sound that now comes from my Les Paul sounds just like the description on that website :D Like Eric said"Wade is an absolute pleasure to deal"and the warranty he gives is worth the admission price!!!!!

Does the Afwayu split as well as the Torque?

I thought there were three Afwayu designs....the Afwayu, the Ty Tabor and the PAF-ish model.

Yes, the Afwayu splits well..a bit hotter territory Think slightly hotter in gain compared to the torques. There is only on Afwayu. The Ty model is a cleaner version of the Afwayu- Slightly underwould with a shift in the gain and a different wind - just cleaner. It uses the same metal componients. The Paf- ish you are thinking of is a completely different model for Egnater- Hot hot Paf. Reading out at 14.6-14.8k . I'm just waiting on the final word from the Eggy crew for this last model and Descriptions will follow shortly : )

Thanks bro! Which has more bass...Afwayu or Torque? I am trying to decide which would be best in my PRS CE-22. I have your 14.2K Torque and I am wondering the bobbin color because I could remove the cover and install into my PRS and get the Detroiter for my burst LP.

For those of you who have tried the Rio BBQ, the Torque is very similar...but better. Thick!

Sometimes the Torque is too thick for my LPs...the bass is big. Might be better for my PRS :)

The torques were the first set I picked up from Wade,I put that set in a few different guitars and it did extremely well in the Maple/mahog,mahog and a swamp ash and left it in the VooDoo.
