Proof the Earth is round

I don't see how that article irrefutably proves that the earth is a spinning ball. But there is good evidence and argumentation. Regarding the bible, it is as Von says not clear, but in my opinion it hints at a flat earth more than a spinning ball.

In Job chapter 38 it sounds to me like God is mocking anyone that tries to make absolute declarations on how the earth and heavens were laid out.

There are verses in Job that say where were you when I created the Earth. God basically mocking our human understanding of things. Which given their conception of how the earth worked was right. Job 38 4-11.

The New Testament has verses of Jesus trying to explain the nature of things because the Jews didn’t get it with their limited understanding.

People say "pear" but it's not that. It appears circular but the further you get away, it kind of bulges at the middle and then is fatter below the equator. Above it still looks circular, but looks a smaller amount more pushed in. It's almost imperceptable until you get out far enough to see it..and even then it is not that crazy

It is spheroidal however it is very close to a sphere. These bulges you talk about are only like 50-100m or something.

I'm not saying he's an expert, I just agree with his, and apparently the Orthodox church's take on the matter. That link I posted was protestant btw and it states that it's not entirely clear in the bible, although like I said, I think it leans towards pancake.

Just shows how much the ancient Jews knew huh.

I think it's remarkable the Bible didn't come right out and say something incorrect despite being written by men of that age under the inspiration of God.

We at least know the shape of the Earth within bounds mate. We know for sure it's not flat. Knowing the shape of the Earth isn't arrogance. Knowing the sky is blue during the day or water is wet is not arrogance. It just is.

The earth is a circle, that's scripture. Doesn't make it a ball. That's something someone else made up.
