It's not though, its the same geocentrism vs heliocentrism debate that has been ongoing for thousands of years. It's the realm of pure speculation, which is why you said you weren't gonna take part in it, remember?
There is no debate. The debate is over. There is no speculation. It's a hard fact that the Earth is a sphere and not flat.

There wasn't supposed to be a debate because you were saying how you weren't gonna partake in foolish controversies and all that. If you don't like people questioning mainstream viewpoints at all then OTC is a bad place to be. Head over to JGF, those guys love to goose step on climate change, covid shots, ball earth, and voting for democrats.

It's not a controversy though. It's settled. Being a republican <> being a nutcase flat earther.

A page or two ago you were calling it a foolish controversy, now you say it's settled so you can participate again? How about a little cosistency? No one here is arguing for flat earth. People just don't believe the NASA fantasies.

Well I thought about it and decided it's not actually a controversy. Controversy implies there's actually something to disagree about. In this case there isn't.

Uh, we've been disagreeing for many pages my man. I think this is more you saying to yourself "I'm not gonna get mad about this this time".

I'm not mad about it... I just think the two of you are retarded to borrow a word from PLX.

Me and acceptance think you are too quick to believe everything that is splashed on tv about space and space travel.

I'm an amateur astronomer and have been for 35 years. I believe my own eyes.

I built this scope...

Modelled all the parts in 3D CAD 20 years ago before I built it.

Hey let each man be convinced of his own beliefs. i'm all for it. I just don't think we sent men to the moon and I don't think we are a ball floating in a vacuum on pillars of nothingness yet somehow rotating like a slung stone at high speeds. It's far fetched.

Why do you doubt it. God can do anything. If there are any laws of physics it was God who put them in place and created them.

Yes, good point. God can make it convex, concave, or pancake shaped and cause you, and others, to perceive it wrongly as a ball.

Anyway it's not a belief or a perception - its just knowledge. Do you believe there's ground under your feet when you walk or do you know there's ground.

I can stand on the ground and experience for myself that it is there. Neither you nor me have been to space but you are telling me it's all real, relying on the presumed integrity of those who claim to have done so for your beleifs.

Can you breathe easily on Mt Everest or at 40000 feet? Does the 747 you fly in have a pressurised cabin? Why do you suppose that is. How does an altimeter work. Why does water boil at a lower temperature the higher your altitude.

Never been to Everest. Never flown in a 747. Air is thinner higher up. I lived in Tahoe. How does this tie to your argument?

There's a relationship between altitude and air pressure isn't there. The higher you go the less air. At some point there is no appreciable air. What do you call that?
