Are these writers or youtubers or something? I hold there is generally more value in myths than most of what is taught as fact when it comes to philosophy and science and other obsessions people in higher learning seem to hold.
Both were writers. Acharya is more devoted to the whole "Christ conspiracy" idea, and Joseph Campbell was a professor and writer covering comparative religion and mythology. He did a PBS series in the '80's called "The Power of Myth" that was very popular. It might sound negative and critical but it isn't — he just doesn't believe it is literal.

I am listening to Acharya right now. She is repeating a lot of claims I have heard in the past.

Feel free to debunk any claims. I always think the best way to seek truth is to debate both sides of a matter. I don't feel strongly about her work, but I recall it making me wonder.

... I also think migration was possible using log rafts riding trade winds as demonstrated by Thor Heyerdahl in his book "Kon Tiki".
"Kon Tiki" was the name of both the original documentary film (1950) and the dramatised version (2012) but not the book.

The book always had the word "Expedition" in it, whether simply "The Kon-Tiki Expedition" or "The Kon-Tiki Expedition: By Raft Across the South Seas ".

Only reason I know this stuff is that it was the first serious book I read cover-to-cover when I was a kid.

The movie is pretty good too but I don't think it's in english.
You're thinking of the dramatised version, released in 2012.

The original movie was a 1950 documentary that won an Oscar in 1951. Heyerdahl's commentary was translated into English.

You are talking about taking on a lot of material there so I'd have to really dig into it a ways. A lot of what she is saying so far was repackaged for the zeitgeist movie (a rather poorly done film that is full of error) and has already been debunked by quite a few people. They/her make claims kinda like "Christ is just a repackaged sun god, sol invictus whose birthday is Dec 25". I used to believe that. Well, the Russian orthodox church is on the old calendar and orthodox Christmas is Jan 7, not Dec 25th, just as an example. The new calendar is called new because it is very new, 1923......

Some of the debunking I'd be doing would be using scripture and I'm not sure that would satisfy you. She does seem to have gotten shot down by other scholars who study the same fields, so there is that. I'll have to do more listening but truthfully I think you'd be best served looking up her claims for yourself if you haven't already, and see what you find. I don't think I have time or willpower to dig super deep but I will probably look at a few more of her claims just for general knowledge in case it gets brought up elsewhere.

I think I can explain this:

Many attribute flat-earth belief to Christianity, so rightly or wrongly, the subject's always gonna pop up in this sort of debate.
A flawed interpretation of Christianity yes. The Bible doesn't really say what shape it is.

Things like "ends of the earth" and "the circle of the earth" etc weren't really intended to be literal descriptions for a Police sketch artist to draw it.

Yup, but it's gained traction through repetition over the years, just like many other Biblical mistruths.

He should be in your prayers before you jump all over him for what he may or may not believe. Then it doesn't matter if he's trolling you or not.
I can appreciate your point @VonBonfire but Jesus did not handle the Pharisees that way, He regularly called them out, even told them that they were of their father - the Devil.

I stand corrected regarding Jesus (And Christ) not being in the OT. Apparently Yeshua (Joshua) was already being translated as Jesus. And Christ (Christos) were already in use in the Greek translation (Septuagint). So there ya go, you have Jesus Christ in the OT before the NT.

I think I saw it back in 68 when Captain Kirk or whoever that guy was on Apollo 8 took a picture of it. It looked pretty round to me, except the bottom was jacked up a bit. 🙁

You fell out before you addressed the Matthew 25 post on page 80.

I don't see acceptance as a pharisee. He's isn't pretending to be a minister of righteousness, he's not a religious authority figure. He's not really religious at all that I know of other than being a regular at rig talk.

He is the the overlord of never ending arguments. Often ones he himself doesn’t believe. 😂😂

It doesn't bother me. I appreciate his open mindedness to non-mainstream ideas. Most people just get pissed off if you question official stories or suggest a conspiracy theory in place of commonly accepted explanations.

As evidenced by these threads I'd say. My late buddy "introduced" me to the idea of the flat earth and I was so annoyed. But then I got to thinking about it all and started bugging the crap out of him (He had been messing with me at the time). I can still see him look down, sigh and shake his head. Totally backfired, haha.

But seriously, I don't care. I am highly doubtful, but who knows, maybe we live on a spinning ball. 🤷‍♂️
