They should take a combat rifle course. Lots of depth there.
Wish I could afford it. Once someone better at combat rifle lays waste to me I'll still need my spiritual body armor. Gimme the level IV+ of orthodoxy.

It’s in the Bible. I take it to mean that calling a preacher “ Father” is blasphemy. And I take it to mean listening to other men is a good way to get everything wrong.
I'm not sure if it's in the Bible but I certainly agree that Jesus is our high priest and intercessor and we don't need some human inbetween.

I think he misses circular Dan. It’s like he’s gonna take the most impossible arguments and argue them. I get the ol playing devils advocate in order to further the discussion but man, I got better shit to do than spend 35 pages arguing about the Bible.

Well, not really. I’m at work so 🤣🤣
well said this has gone on far too long and yes he is just instigating.

Man I wish you saw the flat earth thread. This is just warming up haha

I might start a thread on pteradactyls. There was a famous thread on TGP about that. He and acceptance would swear blind that they saw pteradactyls I'm sure.

This is offset by 1 Cor 4 15 where Paul implies he a spiritual father. Not that you care. I've just heard people with a protestant background use that one to condemn priests and such.

So it’s a contradiction in the Bible.

Yes Col 2:8 is
this is ad nauseam man.
Here is the text:

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits[a] of the world, and not according to Christ.

Tell us how this text nullifies Orthodoxy.

I think it would be a mistaken to say one precludes another. Tradition and scripture is nicely harmonized in orthodoxy, which is why protestant faiths are losing ground and small orthodox parishes are experiencing a boom period, especially from younger men who are fed up with the wokeness of their generation and are seeking deeper meaning within christianity. Orthodoxy provides that depth.

And I wouldn’t use it to condemn priests, just to point out that the pope being called his holiness is some seriously fucked up shit.

Agreed on the last bit of that. But we don't need priests. We don't need to confess to humans who stand between us and God. We can confess directly to God through Jesus. Jesus is the priest that allows our confessions to be heard.

Settle down there cowboy. Haven't you been railing against 'orthodoxy' for 90% of this thread?

Paul says in 1 Cor 4 15

For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet ye have not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the Gospel.
yea the whole section would help.
Paul's ways were in Christ not tradition.

14I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. 15For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 16Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. 17For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and who will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church.

WHAT IS ORTHODOXY

what are the fundamental beliefs he is holding to.
i feel like I'm taking crazy pills, this dude will not answer

So it’s a contradiction in the Bible.
That would depend on the interpretation you are using. It's not translated very well in some bibles.

And I wouldn’t use it to condemn priests, just to point out that the pope being called his holiness is some seriously fucked up shit.
Papal authority is one of the reasons Roman Catholics broke away from orthodoxy into heresy in 1054. In orthodoxy the patriarch is only considered "first among equals".

I would have said that's pretty plain. The thoughts of humans (philosophy) and human traditions (all those rituals and traditions VonBonfire talks about) are at odds with what Christ taught. So they have superseded the message the Bible and are leading people astray and are therefore holding people captive from the Bible's true message.

@Floyd Eye is correct, we are to call no man father

and there is no need for any priest or "1st among equals"

1John 2:1
1My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins,
