You're not accepting that it is just your interpretation. That's my point. I also acknowledged that some verses are clearer than others and are probably not open to interpretation. But Col 2:8 is not clear without a clear definition of traditions and philosophies in question.
I really think it's safe to say that we are sinful is not an interpretation. It's as clear as a bell in the Bible and said continually.

Humans being sinful isn’t HIS interpretation. It’s the only possible interpretation.

So you would put credence in a story, with zero reference, that’s based on another story being a lie ?

I put as much faith in that as I do L. Ron Hoover and the Church of Appliantology.
The devil is the father of all lies and he seems to believe all of them.

That's not what we were debating though. But this intense focus on sin and morality can be seen as a particularly judeo-christian phenomenon. Other faith traditions are not as caught up in it.

I think he misses circular Dan. It’s like he’s gonna take the most impossible arguments and argue them. I get the ol playing devils advocate in order to further the discussion but man, I got better shit to do than spend 35 pages arguing about the Bible.

Well, not really. I’m at work so 🤣🤣

I’m not sure how anyone can figure out what you’re debating. It’s a big ol circle.

You need to get that Alex Van Halen book. It’s a better use of your time.

We were debating whether the bible precludes the authority of the traditions found in the orthodox church.

Considering some dude made it up as an alternative to another story that’s unprovable I’d say it’s safe to say it’s bullshit.
People want to say they worship satan and they start making up dogma to go with it.

Who knows someone might listen. God might plant a seed in their mind. Then it'd be worth it.

I think it would be a mistaken to say one precludes another. Tradition and scripture is nicely harmonized in orthodoxy, which is why protestant faiths are losing ground and small orthodox parishes are experiencing a boom period, especially from younger men who are fed up with the wokeness of their generation and are seeking deeper meaning within christianity. Orthodoxy provides that depth.

Let no man be reverend unto you.
Paul says in 1 Cor 4 15

For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet ye have not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the Gospel.

They should take a combat rifle course. Lots of depth there.

Yes Col 2:8 is
this is ad nauseam man.

it is clear that any traditions other than Christ are to be thrown out.
John 1 says Jesus is the word

I can produce many other text to confirm that Christ has all authority if you like, but trust me the bible is clear on this point.

teaching mary is sinless contradicts Jesus' words.

does that finally make sense?

I don't know what you mean by that one... but if it means don't let people worship you or any other man instead of God then I'd agree.
It’s in the Bible. I take it to mean that calling a preacher “ Father” is blasphemy. And I take it to mean listening to other men is a good way to get everything wrong.
