If there is one truth then anything that attempts to distort it or change it would be negative in origin. That's how you go from one faith to 45,000 denominations who all disagree with each other. In the bible satan is the author of confusion.

Some of it can be tricky. I think I might have mention the principles of hermeneutics before which you have to keep in mind. If it was just you and I attempting to interpret it in complete way in context would be hard. However, there are lots of published "commentaries" on the Bible by a lot of different scholars and they are freely available. If you are serious about understanding a passage you can consult the commentaries and make your decision on the interpretation based on them. I think most times you will come up with a reasonable understanding of the passage and the possible meanings. Sometimes it's quite straight forward and the more you read the more you will understand the context of things. Some prophetic books like Revelation, Daniel and Isaiah are hard going I have to say. Some things you have to resign yourself to not knowing the full meaning this side of heaven.

The important thing is to understand the core message. Some things are interesting but they aren't exactly core to being saved.

@VonBonfire Get of your high horse and stop acting like you won some huge theological debate. I wasn't in the mood to talk with a closed minded religious bigot anymore and it was time for me to go to bed for the night. You couldn't even listen enough to understand the half of a sentence I said about my beliefs. Somehow you pulled "all paths lead to the Lord" from that and it isn't even what I was alluding to. You're nowhere close to tearing my "self invented worldview" apart. Get over yourself. I'm not some weak willed person who's intimidated by other's beliefs being different from my own.

If anyone is scared to have their beliefs pulled from under them it's you. You're so weak in your faith you can't stand even a slightly different viewpoint and go on the attack. In my experience people who act like that are very insecure of their convictions. Maybe you should get your own house in order before trying to berate someone else's faith. If you ever become secure in your beliefs you probably wouldn't feel the need to attack others for theirs.

And just to be clear, I'm not judging/attacking what you actually believe. I'm calling you out for attacking others' faith as you always do. I'm also suggesting your faith isn't as strong as you think it is because you constantly have to go on the attack.

Did you really expect this thread to fully stay on topic? I thought everything was going along well with everyone stating their beliefs and being respectful of others. That is until Vonnie rolled in telling everyone they're wrong. Even @311splawndude somewhat predicted he'd be the disruption in post #2.

You'll have to back that up with some examples. People make mistakes, yes, but orthodoxy is preserved unconquerable forever. It is the visible body of Christ on earth. If Christ has no visible body then everything the church teaches is a lie because it means satan overcame the church. We don't believe that.
