Reconsidering the Wizard Hell Razor

Good point, could be. I still see it. I just had to search Wizard Hell Razor on google. Here it is: http://www.wizardamplification.com/hellrazor.htm
Scroll down and it still shows the 200w version listed

Oh yea that’s where I got the pic from lol…I just wonder if it’s a prototype only/for artists only?

I mean I kinda get his point that if Faulkner only uses a 150 watt…who’d actually want a 200 watt one………but why advertise it lol…my 5 year old brain sees something like that and immediately wants to touch it lol

We'd want it for the type of sound, not volume. I wouldn't expect it to be much different in volume itself, but to hear to more ease/efficiency in how it puts out sound and more extended lows and highs, less mids maybe. Hopefully a little more punch. If it at least does some of that I'd say it's worth it to me at least

That makes a lot of sense and I appreciate you explaining that. If I manage to do this without pussing out (for a multitude of reasons), I’ll have to track someone down with different wattage versions and do a proper comparison.

That would be awesome! I and at least 3 others I know here have the KT150 version, maybe it can happen and I know some here too with 100w, 50w and maybe even the 40w 6V6 version. I bet they're all great in their own ways

lol a hell razor convention…probably lol 90+% of the global supply

Alright if I do it I’ll post up cause now I’m just larping about it.

Glad OP posted the thread, it’s been on my mind (for better or worse)

@Nashville Riff Co
I also picked up a Wizard Rock Standard on recommendation from @WizardSouth-JP

You would probably really dig that one: MTL style controls and tone sculpting, but sounds (and feels) more vintage, like, hot plexi through modded 800 style tones.
The Rock Standard is the sleeper in his lineup, especially for non metal players that want a punchy super versatile amp.

I got it off a forum bro, @Clp45
I am really loving it man: more hi-fi sound with bigger bottom, top end presence and more neutral mids. Keeping the contour dimed though still gives plenty of kerrang!
That’s one of the lesser known things about the MC2. Diming the contour really brings out the best of the amp. Apart from that, using the low input with a transparent boost in front makes it nice and chewy for leads while still having that signature thump. I use the nobles ODR and it sounds phenomenal.

Another lesser known tone hack about the MC2 is the rhythm channel. Diming the gain, engaging the boost gives you essentially a W800 sound. So many tones in one amp! Literally the best sounding amp imo for hard rock. I bet a few decades from now these will be so coveted, better hold onto yours!

Dime the contour = MC1

Channel 1 with black cat = w800

Agree with all this! From now owning an MCII and playing my buddies, as well as now spending time behind all the Wizard models except the HellRazor, I think the MCII is the most versatile in the lineup:

Like Matt said, with the black Kat + boost combos, you can dabble in Wizards vintage gain realm, like the w800. The lead channel gets plenty mean and aggressive for both leads and rythm stuff and while it never gets super saturated (which I actually prefer), it takes boosts seamlessly if you need that.

I don’t think I will get rid of my w800 or Rock Standard, but if I were to only have/keep one Wizard, it would be tough to beat an MCII.

oh i totally believe it dude, i just had a morbid curiousity lol

honestly more for advancing rig-talk science vs. anything else hahaha
But seriously, I know it's a lot of coin, but i haven't regretted that purchase in the slightest. It absolutely slays. Yeah, I have other amps, but nothing touches it for sheer blow your head off aggression and balls.

i believe it, i'll probably order one eventually unless one of you dudes decide you wanna part with yours lol

Typical response of him lol. I wonder how many KT200 Wizard's are out there, if any

yea i got the one liner response lol...he said they are only offering up to the 150W at this time...thought about asking why, but i really don't want to upset him lol
