Years ago I attended a Jennifer Batten clinic in LA. At some point she was demonstrating her pedalboard and she said.. "And when I noticed the audience is getting bored, I hit them right in the face with my Big Muff!!!". The whole room exploded with laughter. Then she actually turned the pedal on and proceeded to tear the house down with crazy tapping licks. And the room was silent in awe again.

There wasn't a single "macho" there willing to take her on her self deprecating humor. Why? She's a monster player who could outplay the whole room in her sleep.

Moral of the story: silly gear jokes are really degrading to people who can't play for shit.

I feel like the moral of the story is: know your audience.

I would say the moral of the story is that back in the day, people weren’t a bunch of whiney pussies, offended by anything and everything. It’s really that simple.

Pretty weird of Reverb to come down on it but I think everyone knows why the standards or whatever board is singling out this pedal: it's the larger context. The whole drama started over the ad copy, and more than the disgust of the ad copy was the amount of weirdly over-compensatingly macho talk in response to the response. It's become like a chik-fil-a sort of thing where you have guys standing outside to order a chicken sandwich holding up a sign with an anti-homosexual statement on it. It was just a pedal with a kind of childish marketing strategy, but then it got a whole slew of masogynist guys rallying behind it, I guess to the point where Reverb should single it out.

So when you look at other listings that have far more over-the-top titles, this is why it's not a double standard. Look at the bigger picture. A big muff didn't have a bunch of guys posting dickish comments on their twitter feeds, so it gets to live on (and it certainly helps that that slang is so outdated people don't even realize it's such a similar pedal name).

Wow, what a crappy way of misrepresenting what happened.

The dude from Steel Panther came with the name for the pedal and a bunch of crazy feminists called for it to be boycotted, and then TC Electronics like Reverb does now, gave up to the "social justice" mob and started to censorship their own product in the name of the poor oppressed females.

People were angry at all this SJW bullshit censorship and responded back. If you let a mob of misandrists dictate the name of of a pedal and if that pedal can or can't be sold, then you are basically accepting to give up your rights in the name of "social justice".

Puritanism was once the enemy of human rights and freedoms, and now the ones that search for sins and sinners with their forks are the SJW.

You left out what is probably the most notable point, which is that when a bunch of "crazy feminists" say that they find the labeling disgusting and start the usual boycott/petition sort of movements, the social media space filled up with the usual macho dudes saying hateful things about them, their bands, going to their band pages and trying to post hateful stuff there, posting shit on their twitter accounts, basically following this girls around the internet badgering them. Making it personal and being the usual creeps, the type that are ironically being satirized by Steel Panther.

So some companies are going to want to distance themselves from a label that gets some boycotting/petitioning, but basically EVERY company is going to want to distance themselves from those guys.

That's not the most notable point at all. People being insulted in social media is literally everyday business, it's not something big at all. You ban & delete the people who say mean things (that I'm sure were a tiny minority) and go on. But if you are a feminist I guess your endless craving for victimization makes you go and say that you are a "survivor of cyber violence". Doesn't matter if you started that cyber violence, doesn't matter if you called all the Steel Panters fans "Trump supporters & racists. Your cyber violence is free & without consequences, but if you receive something back, suddenly is the biggest deal ever.

Wanting to distance yourself from those people but not from the crazy feminists that act literally as fascists, just makes you look as bad.

Reverb says they banned the pedal because "it promotes violence against a segment of our users". VIOLENCE.

If it was called The Pussy Wetter they would argue the pedal was promoting the drowning of females.

I guess they are going to ban the american flag, as it actually promotes real violence.

...and the new pedal promotes throwing women!

I would think the lyrics to their actual music would trigger more snowflakes and feminists than a silly pedal.

Reverb should be able to control the content of what's offered on its platform just like a baker should be able to control the content of what goes on the cakes he bakes.

I never see these SJWs protesting the content of movies put out by the likes of fellow SJWs like Seth Rogen, et al

Hear hear!
That's precisely the hypocrisy I loathe of a lot of folks that claim they have the moral high ground and are offended/complaining about being oppressed/bullied/etc., and that apparently gives them carte blanche to bully/harrass the persons they claim was the instigator by publicly (cyber)lynching them.

So let me see if I can understand the logic being exercised here......... Certain people(SJW's) that more than likely promote teaching sexually explicit material to mere children in our elementary schools and probably support the legal rights of pornographers to legally sell their products everywhere and could be construed as denigrating women are offended by a guitar effect pedal named as a joke"PUSSY MELTER" and demand that it be removed from their sight which in turn curtails the rights of a private seller to exercise his right to sell an legally non-pornographic product for the mere fact that they don't like what it is called is just PRICELESS blatant hypocrisy! I know it's not perfect but Western civilization may be irretrievably doomed with the mental midgets today.

Things are getting to be quite ridiculous gentlemen when sites like Reverb cuck to the least bit of pressure.

Reverb should not be able to discriminate people based on a political agenda.

That’s like going to a grocery store and not be admitted if you have a Rage Against The Machine T shirt.

political affiliation is not a protected class under the law. A private company should certainly be able to dictate the content of what is on their platform. Just like I don't think it's right that a baker should be forced to put gay decorations on a cake if he doesn't want to.

And that's where the problem with internet/social media comes in.

If said baker would do this...say 30 years ago, some possible gay customers would leave disgruntled, they'd tell their friends and it would sizzle out. The baker would perhaps not even hear about it and continue to serve his other customers.
Nowadays, some yokel slams it on the web and suddenly everyone around the world has an opinion of the 'bigotted baker', with the means to seriously hurt his business.

Same with rambling town idiots. In the past they'd have the audience of a street or square...now, millions and millions.
Oh what technology has brought us... :aww:

So you’re telling me any company can politically profile you and discriminate you in the USA?

I thought it was the country of freedom.

Funny enough, I have just read that the next One Piece videogame has an entire arc banned in the USA because it has boobs in it. Meanwhile, in the middle east, taibans are ok with anime titties.

20 years ago this ridiculous level of puritanism was only possible by the christians, now it’s the regressive left the ones holding the torch.

All this shit makes so glad I’m older, married, not on social media and set with my home. I couldn’t imagine trying to be in my 20’s and early 30’s in this climate trying to be young rock n roller, musician and have a anything that resembles a good time. Or just going out at all. How does a young guy even flirt with a girl anymore without risking a mob in person or on social media. There has to be a lot of Women who are actually not digging how this is going too? I always picture the nerve center of all this shit is an angry lesbian Coffee house...lol

Dude, I got divorced a few years ago and trust me, everyone is batshit crazy. A few definitions for you:

Comment: "Hey, I'll give you a call later tonight around 8 o'clock or so"
Translation: "You'll never hear from me again"

Comment: "LOL, you are hilarious!! We should get together sometime!!"
Translation: "We'll never go out ever. In the meantime I'll post selfies and memes and bitch about how much my life sucks and how I'm working on being a better me"

I'm telling you man, it is like everything is such a big deal. I remember people not looking into stuff so much and you would go hang out with friends, take someone to dinner, do whatever, and it was so easy. Now, everything is this huge production.

When you go out with people, everyone is on their phone. If people take a selfie or a regular pic, that isn't enough. They have to add the "beauty app" to it so you look 21 years old again and then you have to add some saying that the whole world is using like "Bad Hair, Don't Care", etc.

It is maddening. Stay married for the rest of your life even if your wife kicks you in the nuts every night wearing steel toe boots......LOL

It is. A private company is FREE to discriminate against you based on your political beliefs. How is that not a perfect example of freedom of association? Political/economic beliefs are not a protected class under the law. And for good reason. There are certain protected classes of people who are protected under the law in certain circumstances. Federally protected classes in the USA are:

Race
Color
Religion or creed
National origin or ancestry
Sex
Age
Physical or mental disability
Veteran status
Genetic information
Citizenship

Your belief in aliens is not a protected class. Your favorite color is not a protected class. Your political affiliation is not a protected class. If I own a business and I don't want to do business with socialists or republicans, that is my right. The government can't force me to associate with you.

That's freedom.

Oh please, people always complained about everything. They just have a platform now for you to hear it.
In the 1970s when a random person in Illinois was mad, it didn't exist to you. Maybe now it does, times every other random person following that topic.

Every social issue has this type of complaining. "OMG, a white guy kissed a black girl on my TV show! waaaah", etc. Times change, topics change, people don't change. You're basically being the old "Back in my day!" guy by thinking otherwise.

It’s a little depressing how little we seem to evolve as humans emotionally and psychologically over the centuries. Technology and scientific advancement can shoot forward but we seem to be mired in quicksand when it comes to enlightenment for ourselves. There is at least one thing that I believe is a chief factor but I won’t mention it, as I’m not pulling the pin on that grenade...lol

Oh yeah, haven’t had a chance to try the Pussy Melter either...?

Nope. Everyone’s a whiney pussy now.

Happy to see the preponderance of people here are not apologizing for their "toxic" masculinity .. can't wait for this period in history to run its course, its not our brightest moment

By pulling your listing, you did exactly what the people who were spamming you wanted.

Just wanted to address this part of your post. When I listed it I did not know that 6 days prior Reverb banned the listing on the pedal otherwise I would have not listed it.

The spamming made me notice that there was some unwanted attention on my seller account and that's how I found out. I researched what was going on with that pedal.

Like I said I value my Reverb seller account and don't want to risk it over a pedal. As far as I am concerned it's their business their rules. I Just wanted to start this thread so those who spammed my listing had a platform to engage me on instead of just making 1 dollar offers. They seamed pretty organized in the spam on my listing so I assume they probably have seen this thread or will soon enough.
