They removed the Bold/Spongy switch?Backshot:
Older Dual Recs didn’t have a fan, did they? Wonder if it's really necessary or if it's just Mesa following new regulations or something.

Word. I am a hair metal nerd then because I did the Pre-500 mod on my new Rev G and it smokes
$1,500 + $125 = $1,625
What Pre-500 mod did you end up doing? These are the ones I've always read about but never had the chance to do. I have no idea how full of shit or accurate these are:
- Change Orange Channel Gain pot to 500k
- Change Red Channel Gain pot to 1M
- Change Presence Pots to 250k on both channels
- V1-V3 Cathode resistors removed and jumpered
- Remove 33k resistor OR .003uf cap after Orange Channel Tone Stack
- Remove 10pf cap right after Channel 3 Gain pot.
- Remove 2M & 20pf that's parallel with the 680k & .002uf right before V1
I was actually disappointed in this when I got my VII. Such a downgrade as I’m used to the Taurus tolex and it’s just simply better.I had an old rev f that had Bronco tolex. Was awesome looking actually. I’d be surprised if they offered Taurus as it seems their entire line is Bronco now
Hey! What do you want for nearly $4000 anyway. It’s only today’s 2500 and yesterday’s 1200.I was actually disappointed in this when I got my VII. Such a downgrade as I’m used to the Taurus tolex and it’s just simply better.

What’s a great recto tone album I should check out
3500 is just over half the price of a Larry delivered to your door in a few days instead of a few years, lol
I’m just not a recto fan . I’d take a wizard over anything .except maybe my Hermanson Marshall . So I blend them always for my tone
Will someone show me a recto tone that will blow me away ? Like a famous album ?
I’ll check it out
I really interested
I really don't think Wizards record very well, TBH. What they sound like 2" in front of the cone is not anywhere near as flattering as how they sound in the room. Possibly because of the thing I don't like about them, how dry & unforgiving they are...?I've never heard a heavy wizard tone, EVER on a record. Especially comparing to the mesa tones that crush the earth, on many records.
Why do you think this is?

On the other side of this, what you say about Mesas, IMO applies even more to 5150s. I've never been a big fan of them live, but there's no denying that they KILL for recorded metal tones.
Cause they could afford a Mesa? Or they got their record company advance and went to GC and blew it on a Mesa setup trying to keep up with the latest trend? We get it. You sacrifice chickens in front of your wizards and hate mesa. I see why some people stopped fucking with rig talk. The cork sniffery touches everyone if they let it.

Seriously? They record pretty easily. No different than playing live. With all the tones around noon, stick a mic in front of a speaker and have at it. Need to punch in something the next day, just turn it on and it sounds same as yesterday. Dry? I never get this one, just add some reverb.I really don't think Wizards record very well, TBH. You also have to jump/bypass 2 LDRs. There's also a few resistor values to change, these I did not do. Just changed the pots, jumped those resistors instead of removing...The one I did was on the Boogie board. Yours is a bit different. Mid pot is also changed on orange I believe. What Pre-500 mod did you end up doing? These are the ones I've always read about but never had the chance to do. I think guys need to spend some time with a Wizard to really get it. When I first got a MTL 50, the clarity reminded me of a VHT D60, but not nearly as dry...the feel was fantastic. Sold it on...then, a 2010 MC100..and that one was more up my alley. Same clarity, better mids...seemed dry but was great to play, not unforgiving at all. Then, boosting it added even more grease as they say. Fantastic amp.Seriously? They record pretty easily. No different than playing live. Only thing mine doesn’t like is the lower range 7 string stuff, gets alittle flubby with the el34’s. I just use the Triple for that.
