Not sure where the $3200 price tag came from? Suhr USE to charge that for his SL68, but prices from 2011 to 2012 went up on that amp to the same price as this one is showing.. and that is a LARGE price increase that is not justified by any increase in parts alone whether it be the iron or combined parts. I bounced this off of one of my friends who does this for a living and even he thought it was rather large. Combine the components increase with any COL adjustment (which none of us are or have been receiving) and it still does not add up especially considering the large number of products they produce. Interesting to note that that time period was around the time period they were making a move. I was one considering the purchase of his SL68 until after that price increase went into affect. Now, I have no interest. These comments are posted irrespective of the quality of his work which I know is good.

Because he's not paying himself 10 bucks an hour to assemble the thing. That's about what builders usually make, if that. And, you're paying for John himself to make the amp. Not the guy at the shop that works for him. Think about it....that's got to be worth something. Plus, from what I've seen, the SL68 is one of the few amps that's still commanding close to what it sells for new. Hell, thios is more appealing to me than the SL68 and their not far apart in price. Just think what people would pay for Peter Diezel to hand wire them an amp. If you don't think it's worth it, don't buy it. If this is the Aldrich tone that everyone is after, then it's probably worth it to some people. Maybe John will chime in? I think it's wrong to be busting on one of our valued and respected members products. Personally, if I was going to pony up that kind dough, I would get Steve's amp because it just does a lot of things really well. But, it isn't cheap either. And, I think he's been really up front about the costs involved in small runs being a real eye opener.

Must not have been Pete Thorn doing the demo (can't watch it, I'm at work). If it was, I'm sure everyone would be salivating over it.

I don't know, but just my opinion.

I agree completely. How about some fucking common courtesy to one of the few individuals in the business who deserves it?

Music Zoo is selling it for $3995 on ebay

Pretty sure that's the SH100 not the SE-100 hand-wired.

Ooops...my bad. Either way, how is it disrespectful to have a price discussion? I don't care if he's a valued and respected member, price is always fair game. I'm sure the amp is bulletproof and top notch (like ALL of this guitars and other amps), but I just don't get the pricing. If people were talking negatively about the quality and reputation of Suhr is a totally different story...and totally BS.

However, it's his company and he can do what ever the hell he wants...

It sounds great but these $3000 + price are out of control!

I am amazed at the Walmart Amp crowd here. I am sure John's sales will suffer because of it......

Sorry, there is no need to pay that much for a Marshall clone. I'm sure the components are top notch, but there are dozens of other amps that can do the same thing at a fraction of the cost. I'm not a walmart buyer by any means, but I just don't see any reason to buy this amp.

Then don't buy it.

But, damn, why talk shit about something? Handwired in the USA is an immediate $3K price tag. It is what it is.....and on par with his pricy guitars. However, you will get a quality amp that is dead quiet and will sound great. At this price, I don't think it is particularly attractive either in this market. But, it will have something unique about it.

SE will mean this is incorporating the Aldrich lead circuit that John, Bradshaw and Martin came up with a couple decades ago and from which the CAE preamp was modeled after, Cameron's Aldrich mod and the few Aldrich mods that John has out there. If it is a tone you like, then a person may pay up for it. Or, if you can nail this tone with your JMP and a Tube Screamer, cool too!

dead quiet and sound amazing. I am not getting one, but if I was in the market for this type of Amp this is the one I would buy. Diezels are great for their signature tone and worth the funds, this is a signature tone from a quality builder, and worth the money as well. If people don't agree then don't buy it, simple....

I understand the other side as well. But all of his handwired series are around this price point. Nobody flinched on the sl68 and it's just basically a Plexi copy with a few adjustments. Maybe nobody paid any attention to the SL68 because it's not something they were interested in. But since this is more RT speed everyone's like Oh My God????? And as Steve said, It's not uncommon for a limited production handwired amp to run in the $3000 range.

I would never spend that much on an amp anyway, but just trying to understand everyone's reaction to this one?

Anyone notice the standby stand back switch? :D Yeah , that demo doesn't do much for the amp, I would like to hear it on higher gain setting and maybe a longer demo to show more of what it can do. I don't get the 4 grand price tag for a single channel amp that's basically a 2203/plexi clone with a few dollars in changes. I think voodoo single channel v rock is like $2400 , bray single channel plexi is like 2300, 3 monkeys Jose was like 2900 , chupa is like 1200 and all are similiar in parts and hand wired. I guess it is that his name carries a lot of clout so why not cash in. I would like to try one out though and see how similiar it is to one of his old modded Marshall's. anyone gonna order one?

OK Guys here is the deal. John has done mods for some of the greatest rock and roll guitar players in the world not to mention a holy grail amp for Clapton back in the day. I can think of several of my top 20 songs that have Johns amps/mods on them. Eddie Vanhalen f.u.c.k. comes to mind, Doug Aldrich on his Live Dio dvd was amazing. Most if not all of the winger albums from the beginning( I Love Reb Beach!) Many of Steve Stevens Live and solo albums had John's magic sprinkled on them. Megadeth when Marty was onboard CAE preamp all over it.(SE tone) And sure back in the day when John was starting out his Suhr business he had time to mod a Marshall from time to time, but that all stopped when his business caught on and every cylinder was firing. He then stopped modding and started designing several new amps and guitars and hasn't stopped to take a breath since. This is the first opportunity for us to have John himself sit down and take time out of his crazy day tohandwire an amp that is bulletproof and will always sound amazing. This is a one CH amp, he has an entire production line of amps that offer multi channel switching and soon to be midi and the best loop in the business. Anyway this is not an amp for everyone, but if you want the exact tone he has built into the Marshall's weve seen on gigs we can only dream about then this is the one! I enjoy a lot of different kinds of music and a lot of different kinds of amps to play them thru. This is John's take on what rock thru his eyes and apparently thru the ears of a lot of my inspirations should be. Not an old unreliable Marshall with mods this is an entire build from scratch handwired so clean you could eat off the chassis. If it's for you, you probably are already scrambling to come up with a way to fund one. If not stay tuned to discover an amp that has your style. John is not even getting warmed up and although I know of some of what he has in mind I can't even imagine what the future will hold at Suhr.

I don't think you guys get it. The amp's only a grand. The Suhr logo costs $2200. Make sense now?

Price is relative. Tone is subjective. Suhr is uncompromising quality.

If you have the means, like the sounds, it's a no brainer. :)

I have waited for this amp to be built since 2003. After I sold my two OD-100's and Uberschall I asked John thru pm's if he could build me a single channel stripped down version of the od-100. He told me he used to modify them however he is swamped with his current production amps. He told me it was something he already thought of and wanted to do in the future. If I recall he charged $250 for the SE+ mod on his production models and $500 on Marshall's at the time. Used metal panel 50 watters could be found all day long for $450 or $650 for the 2203. After sending it to John it was a Killer amp that goes for 3k on ebay these days.

Now with a Brand new Updated Version with a warranty for a bit more cash is up for debate.
