The ultimate high gain head for my needs?

You’re killing me smalls😂
Hehe. I am sure it's a great amp but it's not for me. It's not going to give me the brutals in the style of melodic death like At the gates, As lay dying, Be'lakor etc.
Also it's out of my budget, even used.
So it's a hard pass for me unfortunately (y)

I am sure it's an awesome amp man with it's great touch sensitivity and quality of sound and i would love to have one in my collection (should I ever have one that is) but it's not going to give me the brutals in the style of melodic death like At the gates, As lay dying, Be'lakor etc. Also it's out of my budget unfortunately, even used.

I don’t think it’s out of your budget if you’re having to buy two amps to do what it can do in one. Think about it.

As I lay dying it could do, the others I’m not sure about. You want modded Marshall JCM800 then that’s what it does and it does it well - even taking pedals that Marshall’s love just as similarly.

Good luck on your hunt.

I had a JVM for a hot minute. I thought it was very compressed and artificial sounding as well.

Every time I played the JVM I felt the same way.
Sound good recorded.
Lots of dudes have great tones off those tho
I'd maybe do a 2 channel but you'd be giving up a lot I guess

I vote Engl

Rivera K-Tre
Actually I'm waiting for a K-Tre 120 to hit the door in a couple of weeks, I did an extensive search, went through numerous comments, reviews and threads... I wanted an organic warm sound, bold, with clarity and meat, with a nice balance of lowend, tightness and sagginess, a musical clean clean that doesn't break up, and a brutal high gain distortion. In the end, and with all the recommendations and feedback I gathered, I went with the Rivera K-tre 120, and I will report back once I receive it and set it up.

Also, one other thing that's very important to me:

As I go down the fretboard towards the neck, playing open chords (and/or triplets on the low strings simultaneously), I absolutely need to retain a fat distortion sound (not the fake bass thing the Engls do) with the right amount of clarity / saturation, attack / definition and sponginess/chewiness. It's very hard to explain this feeling with words.
There must be something in the mids or the gain structure.
Many amps thin out as you go down the fretboard unfortunately and that's something I don't want to experience again.
That's the difference between my mark and recto for example.

I need something between the chord clarity kerrang of a Soldano Slo100 mixed with the saturation and modern distortion of a Mesa Badlander.
Good luck finding this I guess..

Maybe I should try some el34s in my recto reborn boosted with an sd1 or something like a Peppers dirty tree and see what happens..

If there was a gangbang with a Slo100, a modded 800, a Badlander, a Mark IV and an EVH 5153 Stealth and a child were born, that's the child i would like to adopt :D

I am also interested in buying from a well known manufacturer especially here in Europe and not very boutique stuff (Mezzabarba, Ksr etc). Something with good resale value if I ever have to sell it.
How about the Diesel VH4 ?
The EVH Stealth EL34 100W?
Or the JVM 410H?
I'll check out the Orange rockerverb as well.
If you mention the EVH el34 100w. Man, go with that one. I have one and it is a beast and is very versatile. Very brutal amp. No boost needed, but if you do use one, great results too.

One of the best amps out there.

The o.p. says Bogners are too soft for his needs ?
Either he has never had one or does not know how to dial one in ?
Henrik Danage uses a Bogner Helios and I would say it kills and has plenty of gain.
I own a Helios and an Ecstacy either will do what he is asking for.
The drawback on the Helios is the clean on the high gain side is not so clean but on the low plexi side it kills.
That problem was fixed with the Helios Eclipse plus it has even more gain.
I would say the Ecstacy is the Swiss army knife of amps.
You do have to know how to dial them in though.
I have only ever heard one guy sound like shot on a Bogner and it was not the amp.

Let me put it this way, if the ecstasy had enough gain and responce for modern metal, Bogner wouldn't bother design and produce the Uberschall, let alone the Twin Jet. Would he?

What's with the attitude "The o.p. says Bogners are too soft for his needs? Either he has never had one or does not know how to dial one in" ?
No, i haven't tried it because I don't have the luxury of buying a 4000+ €/$ amp (that is before taxes, custom duties and shipping costs all of which add extra to the final cost) just to see if it suits me. Ok?
That's the whole point of posting a thread and asking about those things. If I could try them my self I wouldn't bother to ask, would I?

Who cares about what He/She or whoever else uses? Chuck Schuldiner used a transistor Marshall Valvestate, and he ripped!! So what?

Put an Ecstasy or a Helios side to side with a Fryette UL, Diezel Herbert 3, Mesa Triple Recto MW, Mark V, EVH 100W Stealth etc and tell me which one is better suited for modern metal. Forget about it.

How many times I have to say this?
No Bogners for me. Ok?

I disagree with you.
Too much gain only makes things muddy or sterile.
Touch sensitive amps sound so much more articulate.
Just because an Amp has more gain does not make it usable.
Rock on .
You might as well get a peavey triple x

Having owned a few XTC’s, I’d agree. Not the amp for what you’re looking for. Just not the tones it excels at

Agreed, I have one and it’s awesome. I never boost amps at all.

If you can afford a fucking diezel Herbert 3 you can afford a used Bogner XTC.

Every single one of those amps in your comparison list does not fall within modded JCM800 “classic rock” modern tones like you clearly said you wanted/needed in your first post. So either we’re talking about a floating target that’s now different from your original post, or you’re pissed off people are recommending an amp that does what you need but you can’t afford or don’t want to cough up the cash for.

I’ll also say it again a fender 5150 would get demolished by an XTC. Hell mine eats my peavey 5150 for breakfast and that’s one of the most iconic (no pun intended) metal amplifiers on the face of the planet.

Buy your stealth 5150 (which isn’t modded jcm800 territory) or JVM and /thread

First of, you're not talking to a child so lose the fucking attitude.
If you don't have the patience don't participate.
I advise you to read more thoroughly because you have lost track of the discussion.
Afford a Diesel? where did you get that from? A used one maybe yes. It was just a comparison between high Gain amps.
You're breaking my balls with your fucking Bogner. What are you a fanboy or something?
