No need to deal with me, your answer was to ignore Carl, surely you can ignore me... Right?
Sure I could. However, I'm holding out hope that my gentle ribbing will bring you back to your senses and we can move on.

Ive been away for a few days, something has obviously really blown up. The last I read it looked like there burying the hatchet thread. Ill have to catch up later, but its really sad that its come to this...

However, selling RT is not cool in my book. I realise that Bob, Chris and even Mitch put in time to set up the board and run it and should get something out of this, but at the end of the day many of us put up money to pay for hosting and upkeep. I cant remember how much I put in (and I dont want it back), but selling it destroys the goodwill we put in. I also feel we should have at least a bit of a say in the matter?

Furthermore, who knows who is going to buy this. We have personal data in this board, at the very least working email addresses, which people pay top dollar for. For all we know we are about to be bought for our emails and get spammed to high heaven.

Whatever monies you donated (I'm assuming this was 2 years ago, since we sold a pedal last year to raise funds for hosting fees) were donated willingly with no promise of being a shareholder or having any other type of ownership on this board. I'm sorry if you perceived it as such, but everybody that donated two years ago did so because they enjoyed their time here and wanted the place to continue on.

As far as personal information, if you have anything personal in your profile, you've willingly made that information public because most of what's entered in your profile with the possible exception of your e-mail address is visible by anybody wanting to view it. I would suggest you remove the information if you don't want others looking at it. As for your e-mail address, if you somehow have a pristine address that has escaped the spam address generating algorythms and you would like it removed, send me a PM and I'll change it to whatever address you use that isn't immune to SPAM.

I recall you as a level headed forumite so I apologize if I am coming of strongly, but I believe you're out of line with your comments.

Hey Bob, didnt mean to come off as "out of line," certainly not my intention. Neither is it to cause trouble.

Im not claiming to have an official stake in the board or anything, I donated for the very reason that you mention in your post, for the good of the community and because I enjoy hanging out here and wanted to to continue, I just feel that selling it isnt really in the spirit of the community we have here. Would it not make sense to offer it up inside to the community first? Like I say, im a bit behind and you might have done this.

Im very careful about my personal info, others might not be. I happen to work in world of advertising and I know what goes on with peoples information, others may not. I have a seperate account for forum registrations/newsletters and alike, so im fine. I learnt the hard way a few years ago...

I hope everythings cool here, thanks for all your hard work,

Steve

Hi Steve,

I understand what you're saying and where you're coming from, but in my opinion, selling the board is the best way to ensure that it ends up in the hands of somebody who will be diligent in ensuring that the board continues on. Going the ebay route was the way that I believe this would most likely happen, as selling via the "standard" means that many domains/forums are sold would likely prove more profitible for Chris and I, but less likely that RT would end up being run in the spirit in which Chris and I have run it. I also believe that just giving it away devalues the site and again, whoever buys the forum will work dilligently to ensure the forum prospers and grows.

Of course, it would be dishonest to say that I wouldn't like to have some money for the work that's been put in administrating and maintaining this site, so the sale also benefits Chris and I, but I don't believe this to be unreasonable either.

I do appreciate your input, I just don't completely agree.

Take care...

Steve,

I'm almost positive that a certain board member will end up being the new owner, so I think we be cool... :D

Thanks for your insight, its good to see that you have right intentions, even if our thinking is different. I realise(d) I have no official say in the matter, but thanks for listening.

You and Chris DEFINITELY deserve something for all your hard work. If you are ever in London, all the beers and jellied eels are on me. :D

This confuses me because it seems everyone has forgot why this forum was created.. Because we were tired of the ridiculous moderation at HCAF and we wanted to go back to the old school HCAF ways of self moderation... You know, where forum members (not just admins) have a voice!!!!

Now when an admin reinstates a member known for spewing hate and at least 70% of the forum doesnt want him back.... And when that particular admin admits he's letting him back to stir shit up... Thats losing sight of why this forum was created IMO.

And then putting it on ebay because you cant take the heat....

Seems like you're taking the same approach, all be it a bit more subdued, that some of us took w/ Carl- BUT w/ me...

I find it odd that you'd choose to take a stand against me, yet NOT choose to take a stand FOR Ralph & Kage-- and AGAINST Carl.

Carl is now gone, and I for one am thrilled about that. I am happy to leave the discussion alone, yet reserve the right, to answer for my position, if/when asked about it- and hope that isn't going to be held against me, by those who didn't take a stand choosing instead to remain neutral. I suggest those in that catagory continue to practice what they preached, and move right along, if the discussion bothers you. ;)

Dude... You are making alot of assumptions. This was always Bob and Chris' board. They make the decisions. We do not have a voice in the moderation, nor was I ever made aware that I, or anyone else had a voice in it. Where is your 70% number coming from? There are almost 4K members, most of whom could not care less about Carl one way or the other.
