I had a "Harmony" strat style guitar that my parents got me from the Sears wishbook   . I didn't play it much because I didn't get serious with the guitar until years later...

i've still got a Harmony acoustic, my dad gave it to me in highschool and he had it in highschool himself.

guess the thing sounds good, but you've got to be superman to fret the strings and you gotta love painted on inlays!

In 1986 I bought my Mesa/Boogie MKIII Coliseum Simul-Class (Still have it), and was using it w/ a Mesa MKIIB combo w/ matching 1x12 cab, and 2 Marshall 4x12's

hehehehehe long time ago:

I was 11 years old in 86 and probably still had the 2-humbucker version of this:

wow... '86.

I was either a junior or senior in high school, depending... Bought a Kramer Focus 3000 (I think) sorta explorer, sorta star-shaped neck-heavy thing with 3 humbuckers and a Floyd. Yeah, that guitar was metal! A little hard to play though. I think that was the year I bought my Carvin X100B (or whatever it was) tolex half stack. I think that may also have been the year I bought my first Les Paul... I forget what year it was made, it just didn't matter to me at that time. I do remember it was a tobacco sunburst Deluxe that some numbnut had routed the pickup cavites and put in these Schecter gold, soapbar humbuckers. Blah! I quickly removed the Schecter from the bridge and installed a Seymour Duncan Invader. What a mudbucket that guitar was then...

The only thing I still own from that era is the cabinet from the half stack.

I'm just wondering what amps Peavey made at the time that were over $500???
True...this is way before the 5150...did they even make tube amps in the 80's?

The Classic? The opposite hybrid amp thingy? With tubes in the power amp etc..

I think the Classics came out in 1990. I have no idea what that would have been. Maybe the Mace and/or Butcher are that old?

I had a kramer pacer black and a peavey classic 2x12 I had the loudest amp of all my friends
most had squiers and gorilla amps w/ some sort of metal pedal in front it those were the days

So... pretty much crap? God I love being alive today and having all the awesome choices we have now.
not for nothing...it seems to me the things change the more they stayed the same in the end.

Yeah,
But then a Marshall was still made in England, and the heavy metal music scene ruled! Sex, drugs and rock and roll was everywhere. Find a decent concert today that isnt the old bands from the 80's touring!

I agreed up until that point :gethim:

I don't like -core shit, but there are tons of great metal bands that started post 80s

I remember renting a two story - four bedroom in a good area for $500 a month. Paying almost $800 for brakes on my girl friends Porsche. Her family bought it for her when she finished high school. They had money not me. :scared: Looooooking around the room most of my guitar toys were made or based on stuff well before 86'.

My friend and his roommates were in a similar situation last year.

Kramer Stagemaster with Ultrasonic pups, Mesa MKIII Coloseum full stack. I kick myself everytime I think of how much I sold it for........ But we live and learn.

1986 - GI Joes and Baseball cards...

Didn't start playing until ~1990, right when the music I loved was going to its grave!
